Hockey player Mickey Renaud, captain of the Ontario Hockey League's Windsor Spitfires, has died at the tender age of 19.
Renaud was rushed to Windsor Regional Hospital without vital signs Monday after collapsing suddenly at his Tecumseh home at about noon. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
There's no word on what caused his untimely death.
Windsor Spitfires vice-president and general manager Warren Rychel issued a release calling Renaud's death "the biggest tragedy in Spitfire history."
"Words alone cannot describe our pain at this time," he said.
Renaud was in his third season with the Spitfires and had 21 goals and 41 points in 56 games this season.
He was also selected by the Calgary Flames in the fifth round of last year's NHL entry draft.
