i was on accutane about 4 years ago... did its job and cleared my acne up completely

but last few months its been coming back, and its getting worse - getting it on my back again, and sides of head (under ear part) and lil on chin

ive been getting microdermabrasions, facial peels etc. and they have done nothing so im gonna stop getting them

i cleanse etc. my face 2x a day and got all that anti-acne speciality products, and they are doing nothing

is my best option to get back on medication again, sinse nothing else is working?

Have a try of the following:

Discontinue any over the counter remedies you are currently using. Wash your face in warm water with a mild soap. Dry and wait for 10 minutes. Then apply salicylic acid. You should be able to purchase this at your local chemist. Sometimes it comes in the form of a cleansing pad. What it does is it removes the dead skin and helps to unclog pores. It won't treat the bacteria which can cause acne but hopefully the daily washing of your face will limit that. If your skin becomes overly dry from using salicylic acid then apply a light oil-free moisturiser to those areas only. Try to limit the amount of cleansing agents you use on your skin and use mild soaps. This treatment may take several weeks before you notice any difference. It is not as powerfull as Accutane but it does not have the added side effects either. The effectivness of Accutane usually lasts for one year or longer after a 4-5 month treatment has ended.

Any towels or bedding which may come in contact with your skin should be changed and washed on a regular basis. If you are working out, shower immediately after. Also, keep your body properly hydrated at all times.

Had the same thing happen to me, Fry. It sucks, because Accutane was a bitch of a nasty drug, but it did do wonders---for a time.

Like yourself, I've tried pretty much everything under the sun, and the only thing I've found helpful is benzoyl peroxide . I but the 5% stuff, and slap it on at night. Use white towels in the bathroom, though. I've gotten the riot act a dozen times from the wife for wrecking her towels

All the other stuff, such as keeping hydrated, clean sheets/pillow cases, etc etc is sound advice also.

I've also found sun to be extremely helpful, natural or tanning booth.

After workouts, hit the showers right away....if I don't, and I sit around a while, or throw on a baseball cap and cut the lawn or whatever, I find I break out big time.

Good luck!

what works really well for me is I have a steam after Im done training which opens my pores up well and cleans them out,I then shower and scrub my back well, and I also tan

for my face I get the odd zit but exfoliating 1-2 times weekly seems to keep that away

Try this stuff for the facial acne (http://www.oxzit.com/ox/oxzit.htm.) I know it sounds like a gimmicky product but it actually works. If you order it ask for the roller bottle type dispensers, they last way longer. I normally get quite bad acne but this changes mine to minor acne. I have also had success with other products to treat acne internally. I take a mix of gugulli extract, B-6 and green tea extract from (1fast400.com). You have to cap it you’re self, this was recommended to me by another member of this board. I use “00” size capsules with 40mg gugguli extract, 400mg B-6 and 260mg green tea extract and take about 6 a day. The green tea and gugguli actually speed metabolism also, helps keep lean. I can’t handle the sides of accutain anymore. Best of luck, I now how much  acne sucks.

Most of the advice that has been given features alot of topical means of treatment and fails to target directly the roots of acne.

I am afraid to say this, but you'll need to undergo another full course of Accutane once more to directly target your sebum oil glands production and reduce the glands activity. You will certainly expereince the same side-effects although research shows that subsequent courses of accutane will not result in 'flaring up' at the onset of a second course.

This advice is based on your description of your current acne condition - seems to be "getting worse" and sounds like severe acne too - esp on your neck/back.
I have been through multiple courses of Accutane in the past. Personally I hate it but with regular blood test and close supervision by a knowledgeable and caring dermatologist makes it not so bad after all. My skin is clear now and people ask me all the time how I keep my skin looking good.

Best of luck.

Interesting...I was under the impression (from my physician) that a max of two courses was possible. After my second course at a higher dose I ahd to stop because of the side effects.

How many courses have you had?

Get facial creme with antibotics, also get a creme that peals the skin. Take showers 3 times a day. Take a shower shortly after any activity that makes you sweat. Get oral medication. If your dedicated and use all thes on a regular basis or acne should disappear. But acne is stubborn.

I just started using a product that works very well for me and has worked wonders for a few of my other friends as well. Its called: Vichy Normaderm Anti-Imperfections cream. It's amazing. Best cream I've ever used. Its not one of those creams that burn the shit outta your face or feel like crap on your skin when you apply it. I actually look forward to putting it on my face. It hydrates your skin so it feels like you are putting moisturizer on your face and it makes feel very smooth...lol, and it smells great too. I usually wash my face before applying it and then yeah, just go on through the day with whatever I was gonna do. It gets rid of redness, blemishes, repairs skins cells, evens out surface of skin and moistures it. It's a bout 30 bucks a bottle that has about 50ml in it, so yeah, it's kinda pricey but its for your face so its worth the cost.

Anyways, I am not gonna recommend else...like prescribed shit, they've done nothing but eat up my face. Try this stuff out, I really recommend it.
