I have naturaly black, curly hair that dries out pretty easy and don't really care for the gel look. So for the past year and a half or so I have been using coconut oil for my hair. No it wont make your hair greasy(only if you use too much). Unrefined coconut oil works best. just take a small dime size amount or smaller(for medium length hair) and rub it between your palms to warm it up. Distribute it well throughout your hair and comb as normal. A 16 0z container will last most people over a year and cost between about $15-$30. Also if your out in the sun alot it will simply get "baked" into your hair, so it make your hair a little softer. The oil it's self is solid at room temperature and has a good smell. Another product I would recommend is Rosemary Hair Oil sold by a Canadian comapny called Weleda.
