They have become your website for 24 hour coverage of the HUGE ACORN SCANDAL! I have to laugh at anyone that thinks that's a huge story and somehow damages the Democratic Party. Wake up America and start using your own brain instead of relying on the writers of a pseudo NEWS website and TV channel.

Fox makes money from scandals even if they have to create them. It's how they get their ratings - when people want to watch scandalous shit they turn to fox news. Fox knows this and why they focus on that.

Douchebags of this nation, and there sure are a lot of them, love watching and talking about any scandal out there. Topics like economy, trade, bailouts, markets, political shenanigans, budgets, etc. are too complex for them to understand.

Don't worry. Any day now, Palin or Cheney will open their mouth again and totally vaporize any attention that the nation has on the Dems.

Those two idiots are simply the gift (of Stupidity) that keeps on giving.

Kind of like the Repub congressman calling the POTUS a liar being all over every media outlet. ACORN is an issue because they receive my money taken from me by force by the government. If ACORN was a 100% privately funded organization I could care less about their views and any activities that are legal. I could care less about a single member of congress being rude to the POTUS, he isn't mine and it doesn't cost me a dime. If the Dems can give the POTUS a standing ovation for every word he speaks then other politically motivated speech should be equally protected. The Dems boo'd Shrub and where was the outrage?

Wow a liberal who hates Fox news? NO WAY!

I could take everything you just said, and apply it to the "liberal media" as well.. but I'm sure you'd have some great retort for it. What you should have just said was, "Agree with me or you are a big dumb ass."

it's not enough that the dems own the house, senate, and the executive branch.
one of the few outspoken critics, foxnews.com, has a dissenting opinion and must be stopped!!!<--------------------------------------this is how i feel when i read libtard opinions like the OP. about equal with evangilicals for having a small tolerance for different views

The Idiocracy are calling Joe Wilson's comment racist... I predicted the cult of PC would label anyone that disagreed with Obama a blatant racist...The left wing moron Maureen Dowd did not disappoint...
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/09/13/opinion/13dowd.html?_r=1

The normally nonchalant Barack Obama looked nonplussed, as Nancy Pelosi glowered behind.

Surrounded by middle-aged white guys — a sepia snapshot of the days when such pols ran Washington like their own men’s club — Joe Wilson yelled “You lie!” at a president who didn’t.

But, fair or not, what I heard was an unspoken word in the air: You lie, boy!

The outburst was unexpected from a milquetoast Republican backbencher from South Carolina who had attracted little media attention. Now it has made him an overnight right-wing hero, inspiring “You lie!” bumper stickers and T-shirts.

The congressman, we learned, belonged to the Sons of Confederate Veterans, led a 2000 campaign to keep the Confederate flag waving above South Carolina’s state Capitol and denounced as a “smear” the true claim of a black woman that she was the daughter of Strom Thurmond, the ’48 segregationist candidate for president. Wilson clearly did not like being lectured and even rebuked by the brainy black president presiding over the majestic chamber.

I’ve been loath to admit that the shrieking lunacy of the summer — the frantic efforts to paint our first black president as the Other, a foreigner, socialist, fascist, Marxist, racist, Commie, Nazi; a cad who would snuff old people; a snake who would indoctrinate kids — had much to do with race.

I tended to agree with some Obama advisers that Democratic presidents typically have provoked a frothing response from paranoids — from Father Coughlin against F.D.R. to Joe McCarthy against Truman to the John Birchers against J.F.K. and the vast right-wing conspiracy against Bill Clinton.

But Wilson’s shocking disrespect for the office of the president — no Democrat ever shouted “liar” at W. when he was hawking a fake case for war in Iraq — convinced me: Some people just can’t believe a black man is president and will never accept it.

“A lot of these outbursts have to do with delegitimizing him as a president,” said Congressman Jim Clyburn, a senior member of the South Carolina delegation. Clyburn, the man who called out Bill Clinton on his racially tinged attacks on Obama in the primary, pushed Pelosi to pursue a formal resolution chastising Wilson.

“In South Carolina politics, I learned that the olive branch works very seldom,” he said. “You have to come at these things from a position of strength. My father used to say, ‘Son, always remember that silence gives consent.’ ”

Barry Obama of the post-’60s Hawaiian ’hood did not live through the major racial struggles in American history. Maybe he had a problem relating to his white basketball coach or catching a cab in New York, but he never got beaten up for being black.

Now he’s at the center of a period of racial turbulence sparked by his ascension. Even if he and the coterie of white male advisers around him don’t choose to openly acknowledge it, this president is the ultimate civil rights figure — a black man whose legitimacy is constantly challenged by a loco fringe.

For two centuries, the South has feared a takeover by blacks or the feds. In Obama, they have both.

The state that fired the first shot of the Civil War has now given us this: Senator Jim DeMint exhorted conservatives to “break” the president by upending his health care plan. Rusty DePass, a G.O.P. activist, said that a gorilla that escaped from a zoo was “just one of Michelle’s ancestors.” Lovelorn Mark Sanford tried to refuse the president’s stimulus money. And now Joe Wilson.

“A good many people in South Carolina really reject the notion that we’re part of the union,” said Don Fowler, the former Democratic Party chief who teaches politics at the University of South Carolina. He observed that when slavery was destroyed by outside forces and segregation was undone by civil rights leaders and Congress, it bred xenophobia.

“We have a lot of people who really think that the world’s against us,” Fowler said, “so when things don’t happen the way we like them to, we blame outsiders.” He said a state legislator not long ago tried to pass a bill to nullify any federal legislation with which South Carolinians didn’t agree. Shades of John C. Calhoun!

It may be President Obama’s very air of elegance and erudition that raises hackles in some. “My father used to say to me, ‘Boy, don’t get above your raising,’ ” Fowler said. “Some people are prejudiced anyway, and then they look at his education and mannerisms and get more angry at him.”

Clyburn had a warning for Obama advisers who want to forgive Wilson, ignore the ignorant outbursts and move on: “They’re going to have to develop ways in this White House to deal with things and not let them fester out there. Otherwise, they’ll see numbers moving in the wrong direction.”

The whole point is that this ACORN group is a bunch of nobody's in the political world but FOX NEWS is making this out to be like the Watergate scandal. It's not a matter of disagreeing with conservatives. It's that FOX is taking a non-issue and somehow acting as if this is going to bring down the Obama administration.

How much federal funding has ACORN received in the last decade? Also, the current POTUS was their lawyer....

ACORN has received over 50 million taxpayer dollars and was lined-up to receive potentially billions in stimulus dollars (including a major role in the upcoming US census).

Would it be newsworthy if we found out tomorrow morning that $50M had been funneled to the National Right to Life association?

What if $50M had been funneled to the Southern Baptist Convention?

What if $50M had been funneled to the NRA?

Would any of those stories have been newsworthy?

The Dems boo'd Shrub and where was the outrage?

they did? Granted I never watched a single speech that inept hayseed ever gave.....It's not a big deal the dude said what he did but it is "low class" and I don't blame the house and senate for censuring him due to the fact he didn't have the ballz to man up and just say "my bad" infront of the house. If you're a senator or congressman and you blatantly interrupt the president and call him a liar on a nationally televised speech with really no foundation to your claim......you should just be a grown ass man and say you got carried away with your frustration over the mans policies, that's a fair stance. Republicans got no sack though, so it won't happen anytime soon.

and for the record that acorn shit is APPALLING......but to paint obama amongst those people that were advising a supposed pimp on how to launder his money is stretching to say the least.

You do realize that the very "rule" he broke and the reprimand that he is getting was established by the GOP while little bushie was in office don't you?

The irony of getting busted for breaking a rule your own party created is hilarious.

ACORN had received hundreads of millions in Federal Money. Look it up.

I think it is a good idea to look into the organization. THEY ARE WASTING OUR TAXMONEY. That is something to be concerned about. Their organization is also involved in voter registration scams. Look at what happened in Florida.

I think it is sad that more news networks are not investigating this. It is illegal to register illegal immigrants to vote. It is illegal to use US tax money for illegal activities.

Americans complain they were duped by the last administration. They are getting duped now. This thread proves it.

ACORN affects all of us.

I'm just as disgusted with the things Bush did and I am disgusted with Obama.

It is sad that the morons in this thread can't look beyond their political biases to see what Acorn is doing is wrong and illegal.

OUR tax money shouldn't be funding their activities just as it should not go to any Republican supported organization supporting illegal activities.

Damn John Stewart even punked out the media for ignoring this. Lots of stupidity and ignorance in this thread.

Vid at the jump. "13 El Salvadorian young women [are getting pimped]." "We have a form for that." WTF.

Jon Stewart slams media for missing ACORN story: 'Where the hell were you!?' | Washington Examiner

Also, Arnold is getting in the action. ACORN doles out mortgages to people who have shitty credit, the same people who caused the housing bubble, and ACORN made hundreds of million on the back of tax payers.

I hate Fox news (except for the hot women) but they are the only people who are not asleep at the wheel when it comes to criticizing government at this point in time. I guess ignorance is bliss.

ACORN had received hundreads of millions in Federal Money. Look it up.

I looked it up I found multiple sources saying that ACORN received $53 million in federal funds since 1994. Meanwhile the Office of Faith Based Initiatives doles out over $2 BILLION ANNUALLY to religious organizations. So much for keeping religion out of government.

The Southern Baptist Convention probably has received $50 million in federal funding through the Office of Faith Based Initiatives which was founded by W Bush. They dole out over $2 Billion in welfare for churches every year and I don't think anyone really looks into exactly what it is spent on.

Faith-Based and Community and Neighborhood Partnerships have strict rules forbidding them from mixing religion and whatever charitable service they provide.

Comparing that to ACORN's free-for-all political and social agenda combined with a criminal enterprise is completely inaccurate.

There are "strict" rules but nobody to enforce them so I would say this faith based church welfare is a free for all. FOX NEWS showed two videos of these ACORN people being bad. Apparently they have 400,000 members. I'm positive if someone actually enforced the faith based welfare rules that they would find at least two violators. By all rights federal funding of churches should be cut off based on one or two violations.

I don't really give a shit about ACORN. I had never heard of them before this and a year from now I won't even remember them. Nevertheless, it was FOX NEWS that turned that into a 24 hour NEWS topic. I wouldn't be surprised if FOX set up the whole thing. I mean why else would two kids in their early 20's suddenly decide to do this in the first place. The two ACORN workers in the video were seasonal temps. They could have been planted by FOX.

Consider this: How many millions of secularists would love to catch an organization linking religion and faith-based initiatives? Religious organizations do a great job of segregating these efforts because they know any sign of abuse would get hundreds of times the press it deserves.

Do you honestly believe there aren't people who are anti-religion in America? Do you have any feel for how many groups despise religion? Don't make me bring Javaguru in on this one...

I do believe we need to cut the grants off, because we are broke. And when you're broke, *all* spending has to stop.

Yeah, what are the chances there's a person out there who is an aspiring documentary maker and an aspiring undercover investigative reporter? That's gotta be slim -- those people are probably as rare as aspiring singers, actors and artists and god knows there's none of those people around.

obama is a fan of faith based programs and honestly so am i
and i'm pretty much agnostic...

I think it's crazy how we've looked the other way over voter fraud. That should be among the most serious crimes.

It's crazy that I can't buy a beer without showing ID but I can vote on the leader of the free world.

And trying to snub Fox on the Sunday media blitz they're doing today is a huge mistake. Regardless of how much this administration hates the network, not sitting-down with Chris Wallace hurts the administration.

:lmao: how the hell did you conjure up that math? Everybody that likes Obama thinks better of him for not sitting down with FOX, everybody that doesn't like him is simply smirking. Those in between couldn't care less about Chris Wallace. So it's a wash.

It isn't an ideological issue, it's a strategic one.

If we were talking about a fringe group here, you wouldn't want to included them on your press tour because it might legitimize them.

But look at Fox's ratings -- they're destroying other news networks. Barry shouldn't care about the die-hard conservatives, but with Fox's ratings there have to be a decent number of independents there (there's no other way to explain their numbers). Barry needs to reach those people.

The other problem is with messaging. If he doesn't do an interview with Fox, then they get to cut-and-paste the segments they choose to. If he does an interview with Wallace, they'll have to run the entire thing. I wouldn't want my message edited like that.

And finally, Fox can't afford to beat him up in person. Look at how O'Reilly handled himself. That was Barry's best interview by far. Most reporters act like a 13 year old girl meeting the Jonas brothers around Barry and someone being direct with him is a welcome change to a lot of would-be voters.

zero accountability.

What do people want? Poor fat black people being arrested on tv, president hailing this as justice done, millions taken away from poor people?

Who do you think voted for Obama? Of course he doesn't want to anger his voting segment and ignore this scandal. He was their lawyer - so he's gonna do his best to stay out of it.

It is hard for anyone to legitimate and lend credibility to FAUX Noise when they do nothing but get caught in falsehoods every week with their "reporting".

The fact they have the highest ratings isn't saying much either. Any bookstore will tell you that fiction sells more than nonfiction. :faint:

They had a story online yesterday about how the Consumer Product Safety whatever was going to start raiding yard sales and handing out $18 million fines to anyone selling a toy with too much lead in the paint. Of course they filled the article so full of "woulds and coulds" that you can spin it around and say it's true.

It's their typical bullshit tactic because their viewers generally tend to lack enough gray matter in the heads to distinguish between "reporting news" and "distorting news".

News outlets are now polarized politically:

543-3.gif

With one network representing one group and all the others splitting the other group at least six ways. So one company's target market is roughly six times larger than the other's. Gee, I wonder how that's going to work out.

Fiction has a bigger audience than nonfiction.

Perhaps when MSNBC and such start creating their own news (read : lies) then they will have a ratings increase.

pathetic
I guess the adage "telling them what they need to hear instead of what they want to hear" is not in practice by news media anymore.

The best part about six networks splitting the liberal loons is that they have no way to differentiate other than to become more liberal. That pushes an increasing number of independent voters toward Fox. That's a large base of undecided voters hearing the Fox message 24/7.

Even if the liberal outlets wanted to stop the slide, they couldn't shift toward the center anyway since there ranks are packed with liberal activist op-ed writers instead of real journalists.

Good times.

I remember an interview with Dan Rather years ago (i.e. 10+) where he said it was his job to "explain" the news (his words, not mine) instead of to simply report it because the world had become "too complicated" (again, his words -- not mine) for most viewers.

I couldn't figure-out why people weren't rioting in the streets over that comment, but no one seemed to mind at the time.

Speaking of bias in media, here's a good trivia question. Who said this, and when did they say it?

“If we could be one-hundredth as great as you and Hillary Rodham Clinton have been in the White House, we’d take it right now and walk away winners....Tell Mrs. Clinton we respect her and we’re pulling for her.”

What a great way to illustrate the need for typical conservative idiots in getting their marching orders spoon fed to them daily.

Perhaps if the other networks started posting bullshit stats and claims they might increase their audience as well. But instead they would rather leave the SciFi impersonation to FAUX Noise.

The lead has gotten much greater since the April date of this article, but it does give you a feel for what's going on in cable news:

Newsmax.com - MSNBC, CNN Ratings Plunge as O&#39Reilly Reigns

Since then, I believe O'Reilly has beaten every single news network combined in his time slot. If this were an MMA fight, the referee would have stopped it by now.

So what does it all mean? I watch OReilly and try to keep an open mind but I dont think Ive ever made it to the end of his show ever. I do see the points he makes but he just seems to have this "liar liar pants on fire, gotcha" attitude and it gets old.
I dont know think its his show content but the tone of this show and his demeanors make me change the channel.

Bill definitely get on his "looking out for the folks" high horse a lot. But he's tapping into such a vast market of right and center-right people that he's destined to dominate as long as he's on the air.

Fox isn't just capturing the far-right viewers -- they've already got those guys. The trend the liberal loons should be watching closely is the increasing number of independents the network is capturing.

We can debate when it started, but I personally think Dan Rather started the trend toward political polarization of the media. We replaced Walter Cronkite (who was liberal, but didn't expose his bias until after retirement) with a guy who said things like this:

"If we could be one-hundredth as great as you and Hillary Rodham Clinton have been in the White House, we’d take it right now and walk away winners....Tell Mrs. Clinton we respect her and we’re pulling for her."

-- Dan Rather, 1993 as the sitting anchor of CBS Evening News

... and Rather was saying this three years before the Fox News Channel even existed. In a sense, Dan paved the way for the rise of Fox News by creating a market for them.

The article I mentioned about the Consumer Protection agency raiding yard sales isn't even a partisan political issue but they pretty much manufactured that story out of nowhere. I guess they are also trying to serve the segment of the population that believes in the "black helicopters" conspiracy stuff. I wish I had saved that article. Anyone with half of a brain could spot the bullshit no matter what your political stance is.

Oreily has a history of making up fake facts and stats on air and getting busted in them.

Sounds like someone whose opinion I would really take seriously.

But hey, when you need your daily marching orders you can't be picky where they come from.

I know hes screwed up his facts before, but the question is if hes making any more fuckups than anyone else or if hes just getting caught more because hes got a big bullseye on his back. Either way hes a unique media figure that has good intentions but mostly bad execution.

LOL at FOX capturing "independants". Independants aren't watching cable news, hate to break the news.....no pun intended.

I'm about as independent a voter as it gets...I haven't voted for a Dem or Repub for POTUS since Bush Vs. Clinton. I watch Fox and MSNBC...I keep my eye on all the ideologues. When it comes to partisan politics, Faux has nothing on MSNBC...Bill is a wedge social issues guy and has made a tidy profit doing it...substantive policy issues are less than secondary; He likes to focus on abortion, the internet, the "war on Christmas", and other "values" issues. Keith Olberman is a much bigger tool bag than Bill.

what are they watching then

Plenty of independents watch cable news outlets. It's probably their fasted growing demographic. People don't gather around the 6:30 evening news with Walter Cronkite anymore because we live in the age of the 27/4 news cycle.

I am an independent and I don't watch any news unless it is being shown in the background where I am having lunch somewhere.

I usually get mine from various net sources like Yahoo home page and such or from direct feeds.

LOL, I was willing to consider McCain until he nominated that freak for a running mate. Out of all the Republicans in Congress that he could have picked, he chooses a neophyte governor of Alaska whose only prior experience was mayor of a meth infested hick town. Then I started bashing the hell out of McCain when I read the life insurance actuary statistics that McCain had a 10% chance of death in a first term and a 25% chance if he got a second term. That's too much of a risk of letting the Alaskan bimbo lead the country.
