Form Check Vids

Squat looks good, but I can't tell whether you got your thumbs wrapped around that bar. It looks like you're supporting the bar with your hands as the wrists are flexed. Again, I can't see because of the camera angle but maybe the bar could be a shade lower nearer the shoulder blades?

Deadlift is almost fine but you have to strengthen that lower back of yours. The rounding gets worse as you progress.

Some assistance work may be in order such as front squat, good morning and glut ham raises if you're in it for the serious poundages.

With the way his elbows are way back on squats, there is very little chance he's supporting much weight on his arms. Squats look really good.

Deadlift.....needs some work. Watch the beginning of your pull, you set, then JERK so hard the weights rattle. It should be a smooth pull of the floor. Your lower back is rounding pretty badly near the end also. You also stopped locking everything out. Knees were loose on the last set.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, my knees were a little loose on the last rep. I probably could have straightened them, but I didn't have the mental awareness to think about it at that point. I'll make a note of that.

I've been meaning to get some goodmornings in, I'm just having a little trouble deciding where to fit them in. I guess I can stop deads for a while and do GMs instead. I can't see squatting 3x a week plus DLs, plus GMs all in the same week. I just hope I don't lose too much of my DL progress.

i dont think you need to stop deadlifts. try thinking about squeezing the weight off the floor with you legs, that should keep your backside down a touch longer and keep the back flatter.

Squats look good!

On your deads - do not drop the weight, control the descent to the floor.

I dissagree. When the weight get heavier this is not a real option. COntrolled yes, not dropping thm from the knees, but I thought the decent was fine.

The pull needs some work. I would suggest buying Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe. Speed is an issue, back is not maintaining proper angle, breathing needs work (hold the breath in during lift, etc).

Squats look good - maybe a tad more bounce out of the bottom.

I have Starting Strength. There's just a difference between reading and applying, :). These lifts are more technical than I ever imagined. Every time I read it, I see something I forgot.

When you say speed is an issue, I'm assuming you mean I'm too slow?

Understand a controlled descent, but dropping from the knees - no. Perhaps if this were a meet or true maximal effort. But in the perspective of a 5x5 scheme or when hypertrophy or strength for that matter is concerned, controlled lowering to the floor composes the majority of the stimulus.
