The UFC is doing a good job of bringing back some Stars from the past to cover up for the lack of depth in their weight classes.

I can't say anything bad about Royce cause the guy has balls of steel and will step in the cage/ring with ANYBODY any size any weight! He is a real life tough guy, did you see his face when Matt had his arm all twisted up??? Cold steel in his eyes! Most of you cry when you bang your toe against a door.

I knew from the start that Royce had no chance against Matt right now... Matt is on FIRE, and winning everything.

the ufc like all things has changed... but I'm sad to see an old timer like myself get beat at HIS own game respect is not what it used to be
instead of looking up to guys that have been there/done that
It seems that in this new world that older/ wiser folks are cast aside
I seem to see this far too often lately ( I have a 13 year old boy that no resect for me or anyone that's not in an exceptable age group to him , ( under 20ish)
It's sad how the peeps that paved the way, are passed on for roll models like 50Cent instead of guys like Flava FLav or Run DMC etc.

Msam, I have to disagree with you. Even Royce in his prime, would not have been fair. Royce in his prime, with a GI, and no time limit, then it might have been fair.Rickson in his prime vs. even better.. Royce is no superman, he just has fantastic grappling skills. I take nothing away from the Gracies, I love what they have done. However, I agree with Matt when he talked about the Gracies going around saying that Gracie BJJ is th eonly game in town. You MUST be well rounded these days... I like grappling, and alwasy will, however I ran into Muay Thai, and fell in love. More and more fights are stand up these days. This is due to the ground game being neutralized. These days its being well rounded, athletic, and having heart. Im drunk, so I hope the post makes some sort of sense

Everyone that knows anything knew that matt was going to win. I got in an arguement from a guy at R1 about this on the forum last week. I told him this was gonna happen but I though it would have gone the distance....guess not. Matt looked amazing.

Rickson would beat his ass right now though...Royce and Rickson are not even close to the same level

Are you saying Rickson would ifnact beat Matt? I think it would be an interesting match, however I woudl have to give the edge to Matt. matt 3 years ago, yeah he woud be beat. Matt has came a long way in his stand up and submission. Everybody still thinks of him as only a wrestler, but he is very well rounded... I just look forward to the day when East meeets West, and they unify(spelled right?) a belt between UFC and PRIDE

go back 10 years bro, the sport is softer now with rules and gloves. royce would have destroyed him in his prime i don't give a shit, this is just like tito beating kenny when he was old and injured. i stick to my story that royce would have killed him. it used to be no holds barred now its a sport.

I am a Hughes fan but saying the sport has evolved is not completely accurate. I do think it has evolved but that is not a valid proof of it. Gracie is old, that is why he got his ass beat.

Yes It was no surprise that Matt pulled of that win but to completely dominate Royce like he did...wow... It was really sad to see the gracie lockeroom. A few of them were crying and Royce looked like he just got knews he lost a kid. It was a sight to see really. It was bad because Royce thought he could pull off a victory and got a real rude awakening. Matt is a genetic freak and a very well deserved champion w/o a doubt. I can't wait for the Hughes vs Pierre 2 that otta be something!

ON another note spencer fischers flying knee knockout was incredible & Melvin has to be one of the biggest mother fuckers walking around at 155lbs.
