Foot/Ankle problems?

I am very active and play a lot of rec. sports. I play about 2 seasons worth of football on the new Grassy turf. For the last year or so I wake up every morning and can hardly walk. My feet and ankles feel like broken glass. Once I walk around a bit it starts to go away, but returns as soon as I am off my feet for an extended period of time. Anyone have any idea's.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it might be plantar fasciitis...the painfull first steps that ease after some walking are the classic tell-tale sign. The plantar fascia is like a tendinous sheath on the sole of your feet. It can get inflamed with age, and woith activities like you mentioned. Often it is the result of arches falling. Get yourself a nice golf ball and massage the heck out of em (this will not be pleasant) by rolling it under your foot....hard. Do some foot exercises such as grabbing a towel with you feet and believe it or not, calf raises. I might also look into orthotics to support those feet and take a peek at the shape of your shoes. It may time for some new ones.

I'm only going by what you told me, so I may be wrong. Go have em looked at by a physio or athletic therapist to have the situation properly assessed. Best of luck and keep us posted!

Thanks Sasha. Karma to you!
I didn't know what it was called, but that is what I had a feeling it might be PF. Only reason I knew was because I saw something similar on the "Biggest Loser" show last week. I started really working my calves a few months ago, and they seem to be getting weaker and weaker as far as the weight I can do. I did get new football shoes and added some sole inserts. I am also flat footed, do you think that could make me more prone to Plantar Fasciitis?

Yes. Also be sure to do the "runners stretch" before you exercise. I found it to be the most helpful along with the "alphabet" toe pointing exercise. Stretching will be a key to minimizing the symptoms and avoiding having it worsen in the long term.

(I had it for years following a bad ankle injury). I am SO glad I got rid of it. :) Good luck.

I read up on PF and it said to ice your feet every evening after you have been on your feet a lot. I iced them last night, and my feet feel better this morning then they have in a year. Thanks for the asistance.

I get pains like them too until I used deca and the symptoms dissapeared. I would advised you into using deca for its joint lubrication properties. It does work.
Although, this is not a permanent treatment though.
