HELL YEAH!

Tell us about the events and how you did? What was hardest? What was best? Etc...

I just got home from my first strongman comp tonight, a very humbeling experience. I did learn a few things:

1. this shit is hard.
2. cardio is the key
3. practice with implaments(strength only goes so far)
4. the rain makes it harder
5. even though i got the beat down, I loved every minute of it.

now I have to train my balls off to get better.

Later........

Congrats Big J.

Hows about some details now?........................:)

What will you change about your routine as a reuslt of this experience?

You sure have a helluva training partner. I am sure you guys will come upwith something to really highlight your weakneses and harness your untapped potential.

I placed fourth out of five heavy wieghts(not so great) but I learned more in five events than I every have before. here were the events and how i did:

1.the dead lift....... opened 405, second 475(straped slipped) failed.
placed 5th

2. tire flip(650lbs tire for 100ft)........1min. 21sec
placed 4th

3. keg clean and press(200lbs).........4 reps in 60sec
the press was easy the clean to the cheast was easy except for getting under it with it slashing around. for every counted rep I cleaned the keg 5 times.
placed 4th.

4. carry and drag(384lbs dino stone from the ground 50ft to sled, drag back 50ft)
......... 38ft and no drag (my legs were jello)

5. dino stone for distance.............. 75ft (little bit of gut check and got it a little farther than on the carry and drag.
placed 4th

the tire flip took all my gas, my conditioning was so far off and I had not actually trained the events at all. it rained heavy for the last three events so everything was done sloshing through puddels in the driving rain, but it was fun and now I head back to the gym and get ready for the colorado strongest man in may.

awesome man...now you know you need to work on conditioning

what are you doing to bring it up?

you gonna get your hands on some implements now too?

the hardest event by far was the tire flip. 100ft doesn't seem so long untill you start flip'n a 650lbs tire. My cardio gave out and my legs were dead the rest of the day.

I plan to drop from 323lbs to around 295lbs and get my cardio work up and going. I also will get all the implaments and add those to my training too. I also need to train my legs and lower back harder and build more endurance in them.

I have all my events on digitalvideo and will try to get them edited and downloaded soon.

t3c - i started sprinting about 2.5 weeks out, not nearly enuff, so I'm going to start bikeing and walking and then add sprints about 6 to 8 weeks out and yes I will be getting and using the impelements.
