First Injection, Leg Shot Pain. Please help

hello, I really hope that someone can offer me some good advice here.

Three days ago I pinned for the very first time. I injected one mL of deca with a 22g, one inch needle into my right leg into vastus lateralis muscle. I followed intramuscular injection instructions that I had read. The needle went in beautifully, I aspirated and injected slowly and there was no discomfort other than when the needle pierced the surface.

So a couple of hours later it is getting more and more sore. Now, three days later, the actual injection site feels great, but much lower on my leg, just above the knee on the lateral (outer) side of my leg, it is really stiff and sore. I woudln't describe it as being really bad, it's just this ache that is there and it's causing me to limp a bit. I can forget about bringing my knee up even half of the way up to my chest--however, I can actually manage this if I do it slowly.

So what has really got my wondering, is why does the actaul spot of injection feel fine, but I have all this soreness at the knee. I am even experiencing some referred pain in my ankle.

I am thinking about going to the doc, but really don't want to tell him what I have done.

PLEASE, please give me some advice if you can.

don't worry, the oil just leaked down towords the knee and irritated the tissue there. it happens sometimes. I had my knee swell up a couple of times from quad shots and it went away within a week.

I had this happen everytime i would pin there, its the oil following gravity and going down your leg. You will be fine and the more you pin the less pain you will feel after wards. Shit i had some that i could barly walk cause i pinned to low. Learn to pin your glutes, they are more tolerable imo.

well thanks guys, you have made me feel a bit better about it. I do think that I might have pinned too low. I was hoping this would clear up before leg day, but I guess not. What's worse is my job has me on my feet all day and I am working six days in a row.

I remember when I got a flu vaccine some months ago, I overheard the nurse telling someone that she could take shots in her shoulder all day, but that legs were just too painful. I wonder if this type of complication is what she was referring to. Although I can't imagine if I were to have this kind of pain in my shoulder.

I feared leg day also when i was walking around with a limp, but after a few sets the muscles loosened up and BAM i was hitting it like i hadnt pinned to low.

when this happened to me a few times in the past, it seemed like i 'missed' the deep belly of the muscle, or possibly shot into a spot between... i am a powerlifter, not a bodybuilder, and i compete no heavier than 165's... so because of my smaller frame, i changed to 5/8 inch pins, (1inch for ass) and i never have this problem anymore...
maybe you were off a bit, but pin size could be an issue as well...

I've been pinning Quads this whole cycle other than a couple delt shots. I just pin in the evening, massage it about 5 minutes after, sit on the couch for the rest of the evening, and sleep on it. Don't give gravity the capability of pulling the oil down into your knee. After week 3 or 4, I haven't even felt the shots anymore - I even had to think hard which one I needed to pin last time because I had no residual pain from 2 days before to help me figure it out.

What happens then? Is the juice wasted???
