I use the Glock, but I am getting another weapon pretty soon.

My choice is between the Sig P229 (I can get the .40, .357, and 9x19 interchangeable barrels), or the Kimber 1911 Compact .45

Does anyone have experience firing these weapons? If so, speak up and give your perspective, along with how long you have fired the weapon(s) for. If you are an avid handgun shooter, also describe your experience with that weapon (Do not forget to put down the make and model).

Thanks.

Instead of the P229 go with the SP2340 if you want the .40cal. I love mine very accurate and reliable, the synthetic platform reduces the weight and makes shooting a little more comfortable. Although any Sig is good in my book.

Cheers,
Scotsman

I have a Kimber Pro CDP, just picked it up in December as a Christmas present for me. I love the gun. It is light weight at 29 oz.with an aircraft aluminum frame. No poly and still light. The meltdown finish eliminates any sharp edges that could possibly snag on clothing. It is very accurate and reliable out of the box with any type of ammunition. I have been shooting American Eagle and Winchester 230gr. FMJ and put about 300-500 rounds/week through it. Only one mag I have had ever caused feed-load problems but I am switching to Ed Brown 10 rd mags for competition. The tritium inserts literally make the sights glow in the dark and are very nice for low-light shooting.
The only things I am going to be doing to it for now is changing out to a stainless mainspring housing <the original is synthetic> with an extended magwell. And get a trigger job done to eliminate the slight creep and bring it down to 2.5lb pull.

Two very different calibers and concept. Traditional DA/SA vs. SA "cocked & Locked", .40 "short & Weak" (sorry had to do it...) vs. .45ACP "big & slow". Both are great pistols for different taste. I've owned a P228 (almost the same as a P229) and loved it but the grip on the Kimber fits my hands better which is why I prefer the P225 (single stack) over the P228 (double stack).

i have the Kimber Pro CDP as mentioned above...got an HK USP .40, a Bulgarian Makarov, a CZ PCR (my personal favorite), a Bersa .380 (great, cheap gun, btw), a Glock 27, and a few other assorted pistols and rifles...

been shooting all my life....

I rely on my Paraordanance .45 acp , Glock .45acp (glock 21) Too many others to list..Sometime in future i plan on posting up soem pics so we can admire these beauties :) Also my collection of long arms
