Finally tried DC Training

DAMN!!! That is all I can say. I only did my first workout of Chest, Tri's, and Back...and still did not do it fully because of finding the correct amount of weights to use...But I worked out about 3 hours ago and I am already sore as hell...Tired beyond belief!

I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL WEDNESDAY!

Soreness doesn't indicate a good workout, unless the goal was to build lactate to flush the tissues.

DC is good though, I'll give it that. Be conservative - don't try for all RPs, statics and the whole nine yards right off.

Yeah, try it with straight sets to failure in the higher end of the rep ranges suggested first

Dropping into it fullbore destroyed me after a month, I'm only just recovering now.. a smarter approach is to tone down intensity so you can get the work in @ the maximal frequency possible.

Ala HST.

from what I've read about HST it's lacking compared to DC's format - the upper/lower split and rotating routines allow for more recovery training with heavier loads and less burnout than working the same lifts 3 x a week.

I am 45 and just now trying to go bacck to the two way split after a year and a half of DC using a three way spllit. I think I may just not have the recovery capacity for the two way even now as the last 4 workouts, especially today, has me dragging.

I am great with the three way split however and make continuous progress so ...

I wouldn't say it's lacking. From what I've seen, many more people (and a larger variety) have had greater success with HST than DC.

HST is about submaximal progression, so the burnout is really non-existant, except when you get to your post-5's and negatives (should you choose to go that route).

But hey, I prefer my own tailored training. :)
