first day, actually today, i used it and i did:

right hand:

20, 15, 15, 12

left hand:

17, 13, 13, 10

next time im gonna try static holds. i still have to do back tonite, lol

should i have bought the level 1? this seems easy

also, what r the chances of it breaking, i read the lil booklet and it said dont use it for high reps...

i do some reps, usually 5 or so.

yeah you should have gotten the #1. the trainer is a waste for someone who already has a grip.

its good for warming up, no?

i think ill do some more training with this for 2 weeks then buy the #1

that's what I did. found it pretty easy, but still worked with it for a few weeks then moved on.

warming up, yes. i thought you bought it as your main grip work...as in you thought you couldn't close it.

I've been looking at those online for three or four weeks. Any idea how would one judge whether to skip the trainer and go straight to number one or would you reckon it's worth getting the trainer anyway?

I think it's good to have the trainer on hand, even for just warm ups. Crushing grip is different from grip strength you get from lifting (although there is some carry over). I would say that unless you have no grip strength whatsoever, you will be able to close the trainer easily and "master" in it a few weeks. Are they selling the trainer and #1 as a package? If so, I would do that.

I might sound stupid. but what are you guys talking about? Something for grip strenght? LMK...
Bionic :)

I'm pretty wuss, especially with my grip (it fails deadlifting 315 lbs after a couple reps), but I got the #1, and have been doing ok. I can't make the ends touch like "they" say it's supposed to, but get them parallel for 5-6 reps, I think that's the gist of it.

I would also suggest doing grip work in the gym - the best way to be able to hold onto that 315! I do rack deads with as much weight as possible and just hold until the skin feels like ripping off my hands. You can do the same with DBs

Phone books are easy. You just break the spine and tear. I read somewhere that there are no plans for a number 5; you might as well go squeeze a rock. Are there four people on the planet or five who can close the number 4? Last one I heard of was Magnus Samuelson.

my first real work out with the trainer.

i did back, traps, and biceps so by this time i was reallt tired.

3x12 - both hands
2x30 seconds - holding it closed

forearm bb curls on bench - 3x12
bb ext on bench - 3x12

hands and forearms fuckin hurt today. its a good thing :)

im also buying the pinch grip thing, it kind of looks like a cow bell, and the hammer II leverage thing, lol, from that catalog.

lets get serious

doyou have a wrist roller? I made one out of PVC pipe, cord and some plates. I love the thing.

I use the wrist roller at my gym..they used what looks like the handle from a shovel or a pitch fork..pretty thick wood and then they put a clip on the end of the rope so you can change the weights. We use to work out with those all the time when i was a rower in college and I use it 3 times a week now.

does it make sense to even buy the "guide" (easier than the "trainer")? Is the trainer truly useless for someone who already has been deadlifting for a while? Would you recommend the trainer or the #1, if you had to chose one only?

if I had to reco one only, it would be the #1. The Smurfette is strong, so I don't think the #1 would be a problem. A few weeks and you'll be all over it

thanks. Ive closed the trainer once or twice with my right hand, but not with my left. But this isnt for me, its for someone else.

thanks sweetcheeks

I was able to get the trainer 53 times in my right hand after playing with them for a while. Especially during my initial back injuries a year ago. I started with the #1 though. Ive gotten that for 32 I think. The first day I got the #1 I couldnt even close it once until later that same day. By the end of the day I got a few reps with it. Practice and fucking around with them helps alot. Im also much stronger in my right hand with them. Much. Ive repped the trainer out a number of times and it hasnt broken yet. Still works the same as new. It would be satisfying to snap a gripper though. Though Id mourn the loss. I figure by the time I snap one my forearms will me alot larger and Ill be able to crush human bone with my hands. Now that Im training nothing because of these injuries Ill be playing with the grippers again. And getting a forearm roller soon too. Ill just torture my forearms for the time being. Ive lost a good deal of strength on the grippers too, just from being inactive in the gym and losing size. My best was closing the #2 for 7 reps. Took me a few months to get reps with the #2, but I didnt buy it until I was KILLING the #1 for over 27 reps. I also bought the #3 and its fucking insane at the moment. The best I can do is get it to around parralell. KEEP KILLING THAT SHIT!!

I got the "guide" cos I was trying to help with some forearm tendonitis I was having and rehab from an elbow injury. Damn that is easy. It's good for dicking around at my desk...I would say I could get 30+ reps right off the bat, not counting though. Should I get the #1 next or the Trainer?

My trainer and number 1 coc grippers just arrived. With feelings of uncertainty and doubt I removed the number one first from its packaging. It's a shame they've arrived on deadlift day so I can't really work them.

Anyway, I closed the number one on the first attempt with each hand. I got two reps with the right hand and failed to close on the second rep with the left and now can't do it with the left.

The trainer feels easy but not overly so.

I'm going to have to put them aside until this evening as I don't want to compromise today's deadlifts.

Thanks to everyone for pushing me over the edge into ordering them. At this stage I have to reckon I'm glad I got the trainer and number one together. Good advice KB.

If you didn't already, don't buy one of those hammers. You can make one for a lot less money. You can get by with a standard dumbell bar. Load the weight on one end and grab the other to swing it around. If you want a thicker handle, fit a bicycle handle on it or wrap it with some duct tape. It's alot cheaper than $35.

Werds. I use an OLY DB handle and just load one side.

blut wimp how much do you DL w/o straps?

Somewhat related, I just bought a full size sledge hammer from Lowes the other day. (16lb I believe...I forget)

Try grabbing that by the handle with one hand and swinging it around

Hi bumbag thanks for asking. :)

I did deads today, 160Kg x 3 x 3. (160 Kg = 352 lb). No straps, no belt from the floor.

That was pretty much a max effort but the weak part of the chain is my back not my grip. I'd really never done deadlifts before this January.

i did make the pinch gripper out of a 3x6 brick and 4 foot chain, adding 15 pounds to it is hard, i can get it for 1 min, im moving up to 20 pounds next week.
