I got the non marking chalk. It came in a cloth bag and I guess the substance seeps through the back since you don't have to open it to us it, just rub hands all over the bag.

Has anyone used this non-stick/non marking type of chalk? If you have, how does it compare to regular chalk? I couldn't get the regular chalk since my gym doesn't allow chalk.

A guy at my gym used to use it, not sure how it went but why dont you buy a little tiny plastic box with a lid like a small sandwich box, then buy some regular chalk (I get mine from a pet shop, its a big block for £2.00) then when u wana use it walk over to the nearest bin, open the lid and rub a chunk of the block over your hands in the desired area whilst holding your hands over the bin, then shake your hands so the excess falls off. This is what I do and it makes no mess and nobody complains...

Good shit

I'm going to give this little nonmarking chalk a try. I just rubbed some over my hands and it dried it out. I think this should help out a lot. I did deadlifts yesterday and my last set sucked because I couldn't grip it worth a damn with all the heat and humidity in the air.

It's teh shit bro. All I use. I get mine from REI. They are like $5 a bag.

chalk will change your deads, db/bb rows, shrugs, and farmers walk forever. its like glue, till your palm rips off.

i have been kicked out of a gym a few years ago for using chalk... they asked me to stop using it first, and i told them i would if they could show me in the rules or contract where it stated i couldn't use it... they got pissed off and had the police escort me out... the whole time i was polite but firm... then i get a letter from corporate IN SHAPE CITY and it said that i was banned for cussing out the manager and making a scene (etc) and the use of chalk wasnt even mentioned... TRUE STORY... i even used to use a spray bottle and rag and cleaned off anything the chalk got on... long story short i think the manger was jealous because i was in there whenever he worked out and i always made him look like a pussy...
...have fun and make a mess with it...

if i asked my gym to show me the rules and contract that said I couldnt use it they would just get pissed and walk away and treat me like an ass from then onward like not let me keep my bike in the gym while im there or let me put my phone in the draw where people leave their car keys or not let me use my camera and shit like that

that was a learning experience. even though, technically, you were right, people would look at that as undermining. if you approached the manager 1 on 1 and explained how you would use the chalk over a garbage and clean up after yourself, you might have been given the green light. dont challenge people. try and find a way to make them see your side and what you are willing to do to make it an easy decision for them.

Easy way to handle gym staff - Make a stack of copies of news clippings from the PA LA Fitness Shootings and when you sign-in at the front desk, always leave a copy with whoever is on duty and don't say anything. Just leave it and walk away and do your thing. They will leave you alone.

I use chalk for RDL because its essentially one long bar hold, I also use it for dips because the dip bars are coated in rubber so when my hands are sweaty they nearly slip off.

Those two always go hand in hand.... (no pun intended, lol)

sometimes worse than others for me, but i always wonder how a 1 to 2 inch square could just slide right off the palm. and the its raw for 2 weeks. gotta love the chalk. it will work till the skin literally rips off.

I have been lucky pesoanlly, worst i had was a callous rip off once but it didnt bleed or anything. Almost all my training partners have ripped big chunks of flesh off.

as the weight goes up it has for me, many times.

Do you think it's the chalk drying out your hands? Or the heavier weights that is tearing off your skin?

I'm already a bit concerned because when I used that chalk yesterday my hands dried out and I could feel a pinching sensation when I gripped the weights.

File your calluses down with a pumice stone when you shower. It will keep them nice and smooth and they won't rip out.

the only annoying thing about calluses is when Im bored in class I sit and pick them then one of them rips right up to my fingers and hurts like a bitch
