Damn I missed it, wanted to see it. How good was it?

It was really interesting to see how certain punches from each specific martial art performed. Even the engineers and scientists were blown away at what the guys could do

Actually, if you guys know how to play with torrent files, torrentspy has it up. I'm downloading it now and will tell ya if it's good

I'd have liked a bigger cross section then 1 each from a few styles
and that TKD fighters punch looked more like boxing's cross then anything I did while I was in TKD
on top of that I'd have prefered to see EACH guy try EACH thing
and it would have been good to get athletes from other areas invovled as well
how would a Gymnast do on the Ninjasticks
etc etc

btw any word on what Dean Lister did at the show? if it just got cut or was he really just sitting there watching Hickson pull on a crashtest dummie's head....
I mean Dean Lister is a bit high calibur submission guy to have just sit and watch
also, no offence to the boxer they got but, was Tyson really so busy he couldn't throw one Cross for this show?

Personally I didn't find the show very accurate. No offense the boxer would throw the hardest puch since he's the biggest guy. The wushu expert was the weakest puncher and kicker, but he was the fastest because .... he was by far the smallest guy. I did like the science involved in the show, but I think they should have left the whole comparing about the ultimate style and weapon out of it.

yes the weapon comparission wsa grossly inadequate because it compared what the weapons could do well enough that was fine, but they left out a great number of weapons..

TOTALLY Agree . The guys Lined up by size hit Progressively Harder . They also had the "Kung Fu GuY" doing the stupidest most Esoteric shit . He didnt ewven hit from there the Boxer diod , much LESS throw a Sow Choy or somethign DESIGNED as a KO blow . Then the Kicking thing ? PLEASE , they didnt Compare Round Kicks to Round Kicks , they compared Apples to Oranges

Oh , and I love how the MMA guys were Represented bny national Champions and shit - where was Cung Le to demonstrate the "Kung Fu" strikes ? He was some Scrawny 14 year old Forms Champion NOBODY . Who the Heck was the Karateka ? Let MY big ass throw those same strikes and Ill beat any of their scores ! Magnus Samuelson would , without breaking a Sweat .

THis is MMA Nutriding at its obvious best .

Was pretty interesting nonetheleast

how?? IT was garbage....and for somereason I sat and watched garbage for two hours. Thankfully it was on Tivo and I could fast forward through some bullshit.

The striking comparisons were so UNSCIENTIFIC I wanted to reach into the TV and bitch slap the so called "engineers". The boxers were allowed to move more of their body into the dummy.....OBVIOUSLY this increases the force of the blow. If they wanted to really test something....they should have had each guy throw different style blows....so the physical size variable is taken out of the equation. Also, the kung fu guy had SHIT form on his punch....he rose up instead of boring straight in....lost alot of juice that way. I wish they put the block breakers on the force pad....those big american boys would have put all those guys to shame.

a jab would have been a good idea actually to form a baseline
or any average sized untrained guy throwing a punch so we could have a baseline to work from
all they did really was throw out numbers...
I realized that when the Kung Fu guy went and I said 600 lbs wow that's...um...is that a lot I have no idea

I wish the so-Called Scientists would have had some of that legendary "Method'

A Gradeschool project run like that would have gotten Failing Marks .

well in thier defence there was probubly far more then 2 hours worth of footage that had to be condensed
still any scientist worthy of the name understands the need for a control group...
I heard it was coming on again Monday at 9 PM is it like a series or the same episode?

Kane Fan :

its probably the same thing

I dont care if it was 10 years - firstly , its not like that channel couldnt have used a Series , secondly there was NO Scientific Method WHATSOEVER ! They started out with VIDEOGAMER level preconceived Conclusions about which styles did what - hell they may have well used the Brochures from the schools themselves - and they shot tape that carried them to those Preconceptions .
