Well I've been on this high protein low carb diet for a while now, and whenever I workout I feel great. But today I played some very intense basketball for about 3 hours and i feel like im gonna die. Im light headed and my stomach feels like a sour lemon. I seriously wanna just barf to get this feeling to go away. anyone know why this is happening?
 
Depending on how low your carbs are you could have become borderline hypoglycemic. Three hours of basketball is a long time, you probably used up alot of your carb stores. I always feel like crap when I do a CKD, at least the first couple of days. The feeling should subside, if not then take in some complex carbs (oatmeal, whole wheat products, etc). Hope this helps.
 
i feel fine now, but thx though. and the idea behind my diet is not having any carbs in my body so my body burns fat stores for energy.

:rolleyes: You shouldn't be playing basketball for 3 hours if you are on low/no carb... This is why opting not to be so extreme in your dieting (i.e. taking in a reasonable amount of carbs) is not such a bad thing. You'll be better suited to engage in vigorous physical activity.
 
i would think that if you consumed some carbs before and during a 3 hr basketball session, you would burn through those carbs and still be in ketosis afterwards....
 
TKD anyone? that might be his best bet, as you don't count the TKD carbs before high intensity in ur daily allowance
