That mentality just plain sucks, no offense.

Some people aren't blessed with the same mental or physical tools that others are. Homeless people aren't homeless purely because they are "lazy".. most, if not ALL, didn't enjioy the lower middle class upbringing that I did.

sorry, but you really have to fuck up bad to wind up homeless. it's usually due to their own irresponsible actions, not some fault of 'society'.

i dont care for the homeless, since they are always harassing me for money and then getting pissed when i tell them i don't have any or tell them 'no.' not to mention the numerous problems they cause around this otherwise nice area.

Sometimes people need help to make it in life. Maybe they did screw up their own life to cause this need, but maybe their need was caused by something beyond their control. How do we decide where each person falls? We can help you because you were born this way, but not this person because we think that he should have made better choices in his life.

As corny as it sounds, open your heart up and help someone less fortunate, it will make you feel good.

Do you think its the crack that makes these people homeless... or that homeless people tend to get into drugs because of their situation in life?

I personally have used a ton of drugs recreationally, but do not use any regularly. If I was homeless though, with no education, on the streets, with little to look forward to or motivate me... I'd fucking shoot up DAILY.. why the fuck not?

Sorry man, alcohol and drugs do NOT make people homeless... just like they DON'T make people poor.. you see strong correlations between poverty and alcoholism because of their situation in life.. see my message above.

As a society I feel we need to take care of EVERYONE.. some people are born with genius intellect.. or incredible physical ability... others are born with very little and have to work far harder then most to be remotely productive... a stable and good society will take care of EVERYONE... and not toss the mentally unstable, or physically handicapped aside like TRASH.

because no matter what, there will always be SOMEONE at the bottom of the food chain.. you start killing the lowest rung and eventually that lowest rung will be YOU.

rewarding bad behavior?

Some are mentally incompetent, atleast at the level unable to hold a +$5 dollar an hour job.
Some fall through the cracks of the system. They're it. No savings, no home, no job...They supposed to go to a job interview in rags? With what training? With what education? I think it's very convenient to simplify the cause to drug use, but that's obtuse.
