Fatal BB gun shooting.....

This must of been a powerful pellet gun... and I would think that this was done as a joke..(my friends and I would always sneak up on each other and shoot each other when we were not expecting it as kids..I know stupid) but imagine now being charged with murder?? Granted these guys are old enough to know better than to shoot anybody with a BB gun..

CLEVELAND - A college freshman was arrested in his dorm room today and will face murder charges along with another young man in the drive-by shooting of a 13-year-old boy with a BB gun, authorities said.


An anonymous tip to the Crime Stoppers hot line led to the arrests, police said.

Raymond Bozak was hit in the back with a pellet while picking pears with friends Tuesday.

Police Chief Martin Flask said the shooting apparently was a random prank. Witnesses said the gunman laughed after shooting the boy.

Andre Beasley, 18, of Euclid, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. at the University of Toledo, where he had arrived the day before for the start of classes next week. He was jailed on $250,000 bail.

The suspected driver of the getaway car, Dontell Lassiter, 19, of North Olmsted, was arrested Thursday evening while working at a Wal-Mart.

It was the second time in a week that a Cleveland boy was killed in a drive-by shooting.

Three men were arrested Tuesday in the Aug. 15 shooting of 12-year-old Warren Culbreath, who was hit by a bullet that came through the wall of his home after he ran inside to escape a gang gunfight

he was picking pears....in a tree? then if the pellet hit him its more than enough to make him fall over.

if so it could be argued that there was some pre-meditation in choosoing someone in a precarious position to shoot at....id say make an example of them. murder but maybe not 1st degree (i think u guys have different degrees right?)

but at the end of a day, shooting someone in a tree would make em fall over as much as pushing them, right ?

The kid lived around the corner from me.

Why would you do something like that to an innocent kid, who'd never hurt anyone in his life? To picture him picking pears and having that happen is a very, very haunting image. So much that it makes me sick.

You'd be surprised, especially if you don't live in a big city... just how much idiocy there is. I'm sure they never thought they'd kill the kid. But even so, they killed him. They deserve the punishment.

I agree Darksong it's a sad image, someone out in nature enjoying the world one minute, then dead the next due to some stupid hijinks. BB gun deaths, while not common, do happen from time to time. Not all of them are "head shots". Keep in mind that certain heart conditions (and many other disorders) can be triggered by sudden onset of pain. Even if he was otherwise healthy, a projectile even as small as a bb can cause tissue shock injury (according to fluid dynamics) and organs are most susceptible.

From listening to local media and doing a few searches (CROSSMAN airguns, for example) - these toy guns can shoot pellets upwards of 800 fps. While not carrying the load of a bullet - certainly enough to A) break skin B) crack/break thin bone.

Calling a headshot with a pellet, add in a tree fall - will pretty much ruin a little kid's day.

The moronic part was the shooter drove back to Toledo after shooting only to be arrested there with no clue as to what had happened.

if they shot him with an air rifle then they should be treated as if they fired at him with a hunting rifle. an air rifle can so easily kill/maim. i hope they get raped every night in jail

Damn those CO2 air guns are powerful! They even make .22 caliber pellets. Those are huge. I don't find it hard to believe that someone could die as a direct result of the shot. I had a friend that shot himself in the finger with one of those .22 pellets. The pellet went inside his finger and wrapped around the bone. Someone in college should definately know that there were serious risks involved. I say hang em high!

When I was 16 I drove through a certain part of town and opened up with a CO2 pellet pistol. I just sprayed the pellets everywhere.
STUPID REAL STUPID. I'm just glad no one was injured and I didn't get caught.

i used to know these 2 kids (they are grown now of course) but they were playing with bb guns and one accidently shot the other in the head
he d idnt die, but it is lodged in his skull so he has to be extremely careful what he does not to move the bb or he will die... i think that sucks more than dying honestly.

My cousin has one, same velocity as a .22
