Fake??? (youtube)

Umm, yeah. That's totally fake.

So damn fake, there is no way someone could take the weight off of the rack like that, and there is especially no way that somone could hold 585 pounds on their chest like that on the 20 rep and then pull out 3 more, those weights had to be dummy weights, its completely impossible, the guy was big, but professional powerlifters who are much bigger couldn't do that. I'm calling bullshit on that one. I'm sure that guy can bench a lot... but what he isn't even acting like he is really doing 585, he looks like a college linebacker repping the bar.

It is fake because the bar doesn't flex at all when he unracks it,a nd there is no movement of the weights on the ens for the entire lift. IF ti was really 500+ on there that bar would be flexing when he unracks it and at the top and bottom of each rep, especially at the speed he is doing it.

It is probably a plastic pre-bent bar and plastic weights.

Exactly.

I bet those plates are 10lb each.

the comments on the video are great! "those aren't full reps!" Touch the bar to your chest," You're not locking out your elbows" "I bet he's taking <insert steroid here>" "My trainer knows him"

funny stuff.

Thats what I don't get, a few people are calling BS, but look at all of the post of people who actually believe that bull...

Yeah those are fake, thing is the guy blocks all negative comments, that's it. We know he is a loser and so does he, I refuse to give this kind of guy free attention.

ya, youtube is one big world wide social experiment. It shows us that 90% of the world’s population are complete morons.

Uh anything works. Doesnt mean its proper. Those guys who bench 3 inches WORKS. They WILL gain more muscle but does it mean its right? I dont care if he benches 2000lbs doesnt mean hes right.

Uh ok. Whatever you say peanut. The arrogance of some people you meet on line never ceases to amaze me. You going to tell Andy Bolton how to deadlift too? Everybodies an expert.....in their own mind.

Was what I said wrong? There was absolutely nothing wrong with what I said. Thats like saying because Jackie Chan has won a world martial arts tournament that hes perfect. Get real man. Just because he benches 711 which is a beastly amount doesnt mean he does it perfectly. In my eyes fully up and chest touching is perfect ROM.

The man is a powerlifter who lifts and trains like a powerlifter. Not only that, he is an accomplished powerlifter. You only get that by having tight form. If his form was poor the lift would not get white lights.

Perfect....no. Just kind of sad that people take these opportunities to criticise rather than learn from somebody who does what he does very well. Just seems to be the way it works in some parts of the world though.

Your other post was strange to say the least. If it works and it gains more muscle (your words) then who cares if you consider it 'proper'. It does the job period. Incidentally, training for powerlifting is not all about gaining muscle...far from it.

Who cares if I? as in me? I dont think he cares less. And excuse me for not using strength instead of muscle you know what I meant. And you only get that by having tight form? I think not. He isnt THAT off like you're assuming I am thinking he is. I think he just BARELY comes short of it but it still annoys me and I dont consider it a full rep. When you see people going for some sort of record you dont see them stop before lockout. So why does he get away with it?

Whoah! Its geting hot in here! I almost tripped on the tension. It doesn't matter man, people are going to have differing opinions, some people believe that you should stick to perfect form no matter what, and others think, as long as it gets the job done, whats wrong with it (especially for complete beasts like that). The dude could prob lockout if he so wished, that kinda weight could prob crush your elbows, as in jam them, if he locked out completely, whereas keeping his elbows bent the weight is evenly distributed throughout the mechansim (his arm). In my physics class we had a experiment fairly similar where we took a bar with tension cables running all around and had a joint set between it and anoher bar, weight was placed on top. When the bar was straight the tension on the joint was at its highest, whereas when it was bent it was distributed better meaning less newtons per cm. The arm will work much in the same manner. This worked the same when the weight was hung from the bars as well, but this can't be applied to a deadlift because the give will not be in the arms but in the back. In that lift the arms merely act as cables in which the tension increases but the pulley itself is the lower back and inevitably the upper back as well.

Sorry for spoiling the thread.

I've been here almost from the very beginning (originally on another name) and it never ceases to amaze me how quick people are to criticise what they clearly don't understand. I thought Elite was about learning....just seems there are a lot who want to be the teachers when they should be students. Shame really because there are some great people to learn from here.

Anyway, will try not to lower the tone again.

I hear yah, I've learned so much in the last month on here that I haven't learned in my 5 years of weightlifting so far. I've changed my entire workout, and gotten completely different supplements I never would have even heard of. Also I've been inspired to clean up my diet and soon I'll be keeping track of every calorie.
