Coming this March, a new mini-series based off the L.A. Rampart police divisions. The Shield will star Michael Chiklis (The Commish) as a tough, above the law cop.
I'm waiting for this one - the commercial has a seen with some scrawny pencil neck, accused of killing a mother and kidnapping her daughter, sitting there saying he's bored and acting all defiant. The police chief who hates Chiklis' character goes to him for help questioning this guy. Chiklis walks into the room with a brown paper bag, takes out a bottle of whiskey, an utility knife, Zippo lighter and a phone book.
pencil neck: "So are you the good cop or the bad cop?"
Chiklis: "Good cop and bad cop left for the day, I'm a different kind of cop."
Next short clip shows him Zyphoiding the guy out of his chair... then cowering in the corner screaming "but you're a police officer", as Chiklis takes a swing with the phone book.
This looks great. And if it follows the real-life Rampart scandal (drug dealing cops, evidnce planting, murder) - this series should be cool.
