ick. looks nasty. how did you do that? if you got hit in the eye- see an opthamologist ASAP. if its from heavy weight lifting- its broken blood vessals from the pressue & will be reabsorbed in a couple wks.

oh man.. weight training or not i still think you should go see a doctor. just in case ya know. dont mess around with your eyes.

The fancy word for that is "Ocular hematoma," which just means eyeball bruise.

It seems some people are really prone to them ... there may be some ophthalmologists out there who can explain the reason, but my mother used to get them frequently. Any tiny injury to her eye (accidentally poking hereself in the eye, catching a blast of wind in her face, etc.) would cause them. It never caused her any problem other than being nasty to look at.

If it's never happened before you should have an ophthalmologist take a look at it, maybe you could add a dietary supplement to protect your eyes?

I wonder if you're blood pressure is going so high that you're literally popping a vessel ...

I've never seen an occular hematoma. However, I've seen plenty of subconjunctival hemorrhages and hyphemas.

I would suggest seeing an ophthalmologist. You should also be screened for underlying disease (high blood pressure, vasculitides, coagulation disorders, etc.). If you are taking aspirin, and it's not prescribed by a doctor, I would stop taking it.
