Ex Smokers

Stefka said:
I was never really a heavy smoker.
I smoked in college in bars and when writing essays - later in life I smoked when I was drunk and angry.
So will I always want to smoke when I am stressed out?
It makes me feel so high school when I crave a cigarette.
yeah pretty much. until you stop for a long time. you can eventually get over the psychological addiction to nicotine though. it takes a long time to break. the physical addiction only takes like 3 days to a week to break.

i smoked for 19 years, a pack a day, and a little over 2 years ago. havent had a puff since.

I smoke 2 a day. I used to smoke when I drank, but I broke that habit.
I would love to stop all together, but it's my only vise, besides that I'm a friggin angel ;-)

I had my first cigarette when I was 12.

Hello.

Every time I got drunk, the high came about shortly there after....

For about 9 months, going out and having some drinks made me think about blowie-o.

Until you consciously try to stop then yeah, you'll wanna smoke when any one of these things happens. I started smoking at 16...just quit like 1 month ago. Just got tired of having a sore throat when waking up every morning, having phlegm in my throat, having my clothes smell, having to spend lots of money on ciggs, craving to smoke even when I was sick, etc.

Lemme tell you, the most refreshing feeling I ever got is after I hadn't smoked for a few weeks. I woke up, and for the first time in years, I didn't even think about ciggs. Didn't want one even if one was right there. I never thought it could happen but the shits like magic...

anyways, are you planning on cutting down?

I was hooked on a 2 pack a day habit, 3 if I was drinking. I spent over 2 years trying to quit cold turkey - I'd make it a few weeks, and then fuck it up.
Finally I made it. It's been 11 + years since my last smoke.
When I'm awake I never have anything other than contempt for smoke. I don't allow it in my home or car ever. But at times I still get nightmares about smoking, and I wake up paniked and depressed about blowing my no-smoking streak. It takes a few seconds to realise it was just a dream. That happens less often as time goes on.
Good Luck.
