How far down do you go on these. 405 for 15 is incredible! My sets usually drop off few reps as well, but 5 seems a bit too much. You were not concentrating and just wanted to get it done with. HOw long has it taken you to get to this level. You will probably be able to do a 500 for a solid triple?
 
Yeah... I am here.... I did a half ass leg work-out tonight... me and the woman were arguing through e-mail all day and it really fucked up my leg routine.

I pre-exhausted with 5 sets of leg curls and leg extensions and then did Squats.

225 x 15
315 x 15
405 x 15
405 x 10 (big drop off)
405 x 7 ( pathetic !)
315 x 20

My heart wasn't in it today... I just wanted to get out of the gym to try to figure out why my woman was so pissed at me.

I think AAP has the right idea... women suck!

I go until my hams hit my calves... alittle lower than parallel. I have done 585 for 6 last year, but I was on tren and winstrol. I was going to go for a 650... but I had visions of my quad tearing and despite the urging of my partner I backed off. A week later I strained my hamstring doing leg curls and that was the end of my squat ascension. I am really not built for that weight... My bone structure isn't very big. But my dad did give me a pair of freaky legs and calves from his genetic lunchbox.

I always pre-exhaust with squats now so I can use 405 and make it work for me. I would say it has taken me about 5-6 years of really hitting squats to reach an equilibrium with squats. I pretty much don't have to do too much to stay at my current level. I am a terrible person to ask for leg training advice, my work-out would be considered nothing by most people, but my legs have always responded 10 times better than my upper body.
 
That was your entire leg workout? Just squats and the pre-exhaust?

How about your stance? Do your knees come over your toes, or your shins stay parallel, and your knees never move? I have incredible trouble breaking parallel, with tight hips, and long legs. MY training partner had recently done 315 for 20 at 180 lb bodyweight, and i thought that was impressive..... until you came along. One more question, does the bar sit high on top of your traps, or you slide it lower, likea powerlifting squat?

lol, I've had that happen once or twice :) Last week in fact. I had a terrible ME Lower day...
 
My workout went like this:

I did 70's x 3 sets x 5 reps with incline dumbells
and then one set with 100's for 5 reps.. which is a PR for me in this exercise.

Then instead of hitting shoulders, i decided to give thema seperate day, and instead did a new exercise i had thought up.... EZ bar close grip presses, with skullcrusher grip, it is so easy on the wrists, and hits triceps incredibly hard. Worked up to 2 45's on each side on that.

Finally I did a lot of face pulls for rear delts. And that was it. Pretty low volume

Tomorrow I am planning for

Rack Deadlifts - 2 sets
Weighted Chins - 2 sets
Rows - 2 sets
 
I'm excited for you.

You going to keep it fairly standard, make some changes, or even make it nice and athletic like my routine?

I used to be really tight with my squats almost like a ski squat, but I really made strides when I put me feet a little wider than shoulder width and pointed my toes outward a little. My lower leg stays perpendicular to the ground and my knees never pass over my toes ( I hope this makes sense). I keep the bar on my traps... a little low not to high so that it rides through the power plane in my body ( I know that makes no sense, but to me it does). I am going to have to take my camera to the gym and have my Bitch film me doing them... then it might make sense.

Being that you are a little taller, I bet a wider stance with toes pointes outward will really save your knees and boost your squats. Usually with my last set of 20... I start real tight for 7-8 reps, then medium and then the last reps I go wide and pound them out. weak position.... to stonger as I get weaker.

I am cutting and doing cardio 7 times a weak so my volume is cut down considerably right now.
 
zander - right now i am gaining pretty well, so why chang eit. I mean I havent had so much gains in last 3 months. U know,w hy fix something that is not broken. But if I to become assisted this september, I will def make westside my training of choice.

eviscerator, it'd be nice if u had a video! something for people to judge against when an experienced squatter like you squats :) I like your workout, just high intensity squats and done. That is exactly what I am doing now, except I throw in more sets for hamstrings. What do you think about my training?>

Bitches will tank your work-out and create more cortisol than any other stressor. Unfortunately they have titties and vaginas and I am forced to deal with them.

I think they know how to pick the worst times for it too. There is NOTHING more annoying than squats being ruined... except for deadlifts being ruined.

They can be quite handy when on a diet though, as an appetite supressor.

I actually saw a pretty hardcore guy doing deadlifts, about 385 on the bar. There is very limited space, so this hot cardio bunny in spandex bumped into his bar as he was doing deadlifts. The guy throws the bar down and starts yelling and cursing out the cardio bunny. That is what I call true dedication. Guy chose deadlift over a whore. That guy is now unofficially my hero.

Your training is great, no doubt about it.

I'm surprised you're crossing over so soon. You will have to keep me updated on how that goes.

I like that. Props to him. However, I think any true brother of iron would do the same thing.

People in my house have learnt the hard way. Whenever the plates are being thrown around, be nice :)
 
what? i'd fuck that cardio bunny anytime, anyplace-----EXCEPT when doing deadlifts. YOu dont ever fuck with a man during deadlifting.
 
Funny story... My girl just had surgery 2 weeks ago and today she was back in the gym doing back. She vowed that she wasn't going to do deadlifts. I get to the gym to do some PM cardio on my day off and she is over in the power rack doing..... deadlifts...lol

She said she is addicted to deadlifts. As much as I complain about her... I still love that deadlifting bitch.:heart:
 
did you make up with her evis? Did you workout today? I rack deadlifted 485 for 3 with incredible pain today, and couldnt get 495 for some reason. Some idiots were doing full range deadlifts next to me with 135, and couldnt understand how I was adding 1 plate to each side every set. Wow deadlifting bitch, what can be better........ ultimate combination

That's some good weight rev... at your age I was playing guitar and singing songs, and lifting a little on the side. You are going to be a monster if you keep it up. You are still a natural too... as long as you are gaining, don't turn to the darkside. I waited until I was 27 and I wish I would have had as much dietary knowledge as I do now. I think I could have gone a few more years without it armed with the knowledge I have now.

hey... that was the weight my girl was using (135)... and this is 2 weeks after surgery where they had to cut through her abdominal wall....lol. She looks like a cardio bunny, but she lifts like a man.
 
wow evisc, you found a perfect woman. I must find one just like that. Imagine her qualities in real life if she deadlifts? Deadlifts makes a boy a MAN, and a bitch..... a woman. Thank you for encouragements bro, I live on stuff like that, it really means a lot especially coming from advanced lifter like you are. Do you really think that the effects of first cycle are much more pronounced the more natural base one has?

Some of them do... quite sadly.... I have seen it myself and I chuckle... These same guys think I am insane when I am bent over rowing 365. There seems to be this belief perpetuated by some of the trainers that deadlifting will destroy your spine.

Considering she weighs 125, I would say she is doing well. She is new to the deadlift so she is getting better at it. She was using 150 before the surgery and moving up. She keeps doing sets of ten. I told her to drop to 6-7 sometimes, but she is always in that high rep mode.

Rev, I think the better your natural base is, the less rebound you will have after a cycle. I tend to only do 5-8 week cycles. I have done 12 weekers, but the gains and the time with your HPTA depressed is not worth it in my opinion. With a good natural base, you will make better gains and keep them. Guys that train like crap, do a ton of roids always blow up and then seem to return to their former size or smaller. I have seen this a few times.
