So what's everyone's next meet? Mine's looking like the APF Sr's in Universal City on June 7th.

Bench only on march 29th, lincoln Maine. Then the one I have been traing for since October, April 12th USAPL in Union, ME. I will be moving up from a class 4 to a class 2 hopefully!

I always wanted to do that Viking open, wouldn't be 'qualified' to enter now though ;). Good luck next weekend Tommy-want to see a big total, and everyone else.

shooting for my first meet to be the New England State's May 17th...good luck to everyone competing soon

HAHAHAHAHAH "qualified":D

APF State meet in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 24th. Will be coming in at a lean, mean sexy 242 lbs, looking to smash the existing bench record of 541 lbs on my second attempt.

Have not decided whether to just bench (likely) or do a full meet. If I don't do full meet here, then maybe this fall.

Benchmonster....is Gorrell putting that one on? I wouldn't mind doing that if he is. He runs a great meet, and close to home.

Does anyone know if the APF is doing anything near Chicago in April?

Thanks

Nope, Gorrell is lifting in it. Sean Baker is putting it on. You know Sean, won the 198's last meet. Hell of a good guy, and he will put on a great meet as well.

Gorrell is lifting at my gym now, and I trained squats with him last Saturday. Was my best squat workout ever. I am hoping I can continue to squat with him on occasion, if not regularly.

You should come down for the meet. Gorrell and I will have a battle in the 242's should I decide to go full meet, at least in bench and squat, as he will destroy me in the deads. I was able to hang on squats last week, and actually hit a lift he missed, if you can believe that. I am afraid tho that when he is in contest shape he will leave me far behind, but I am going to try to stick as close as I can.

We should get the crews together again soon for a training day. Holler at me if you want to set that up.

Long time no hear from Bench, and good to hear your training is going well...

Are you going to Mcalestar weekend after next? Im dying to compete(like right now!), so Im considering if I can get over there the friday before to weigh-in, I may compete Sat in the dead only portion. I took a small layoff around MardiGras and feel like Ive bounced back stronger with the added rest.

Also, be sure if you would to get the info out on the May 24 meet. This will be a good meet to hit.

Now, the big question is, should I stay in the 242's and get my ass handed to me for motivation, or lose a few lbs and hit the 220's?...Hmmm...

March 29 is the AAPF/APF Illinois State meet.

April 12-13 is the AAPF Nationals I believe.

I will not compete in McAlester. I may or may not go watch. Not sure yet. I am not sure if I want to continue doing WABDL meets or not. I love Kim to death and want to support his meets, tho, so I am not sure.

As for the May 24th meet, it will be in Tulsa, OK, at the "Real Gym" formerly Eastside gym. It will be an APF/AAPF meet. They don't have flyers out on it yet, but when it does come out, I will put up a thread with the info.

Good to hear from you VDOP, and you won't get your ass handed to you in McAlester in the 242's. If you decide to come to Tulsa at 242, you will have to deal with Gorrell, who was like 3rd in the world's last year at 242, and at 220, there will be James Griggs, who is a 700+ squatter, and 600+ deadlifter, around a 400 bencher, to give you an idea on the competition.

If I do the full meet, there will be 3 of us from the same gym at 242, me, Gorrell, and James Schneider. Might be interesting. They can both outpull me (who can't?) but I am pretty sure I have them both on the bench, and at the moment, at least Gorrell and I are neck and neck on the squat, not sure about James. Will be an interesting day if I sack up and do the full meet.

I probably won't do that tho, cause I am a puss, and I really want to get the state bench record. Wanting to hold off on a full meet till I can pull something heavier than the bar.

VDOP, call me, and come over some Saturday to train with us. Me and bigokie are training squats every Saturday together.

Once I drop down to 198 and my shoulder heals up I'll be ripping apart the USAPL then making my way to IPF. I'll also compete raw and hope to have a 1500-1600 total by then.

I finally have my first meet next Saturday the 22nd.. It is a 3 lift and a Bench only, which is what I am going to do while sorting out a piched nerve in my lower back... It is a WNPF meet and I will be in the junior 242 class shooting for both an Alabama state record as well as the American record for that division.. The current is 460 and I am looking at a 3rd attempt of 500
