"niceness" is typically an excuse or veil for ignorance. This isn't Wonderfuckingland. If you are over the age of 12 and haven't learned to interact with human beings properly, then you are going to get screwed over. "Nice" has nothing to do with it.

i think that's a bit pessimistic. yeah most people who are too nice are naive but they have good intentions usually. you gotta be smart and always cover your ass, no doubt..but i'd never attack anyone for being "nice". I'd just tell them to wise up and start being more shrewd

I'm not saying someone has to be shrewd and caniving and can't be nice. And good intentions are great and all - but if you are an adult who accepts responsibility for things that occur in your life as direct results of your behavior and actions, then you understand that a non-retarded person can be both nice and emotionally / socially intelligent.

I am a believer that every single action that is done to you is a direct result of your own actions. It may not be clear as day - and will never be, to many. But they are there. Read "As a Man Thinketh", one of the greatest pieces I have ever come across.

Ever notice that the people who seemingly always have "bad" things just magically happen to them share similar traits? It's not "bad luck", as most would have you believe. They invite this into their lives. Once we all understand this, it's MUCH easier to go about correcting it and get all the bad stuff out of our lives.
