Ever have mornings where you're just slow going?

well that's this morning for me. it's 8:20 and i'm usually either at work or well on my way by this time and here i sit on my living room floor, hair wet, no makeup - not even close to getting out the door. And I've been awake since 6:30. I dont like to be rushed in the mornings lol. Luckily I have direct reports at work who can hold down the ship until I arrive on the scene. gotta love trust individiuals like that.

Lately, that's every morning for me. My clients are three states away and I don't have to talk to anyone else in my office. I also found out that the lowest paid contractor takes home more money then I do so I'm a little miffed about the whole thing.

contract employees vs. fulltime perm employees
there's a huge difference there because the employer doesnt have to pay out any benefits for the contract employee. for the perm employee benefits can be up to 25% of their salary so thats a huge addtl cost. probably why they would pay more per hour for the contract employee. just a guess. i have no idea what your situation is obviously but thats been my experiencec

The deal I have is I get to work from home every other week for 2 days. This weekend is not my turn. Next week I get to work from home Friday and Monday.

Oh, I know. Some people have told me before, but I did the math a few days ago and I'm a little disappointed because I see pay as a type of reimbursement for the value of work. That said, if I compare my pay with others, then I feel that the value of my work is diminished. I look back at all the stupid management consultant people that we've had and start to get horrified.

Hence, more time to post on EF in my underwear.

i cant really efficiently carry out my role remotely since i manage a CS call center. its critical for the leadership team to be onsite with the reps for support and to answer questions and manage whats going on at all time with the phone lines. I do have the mechanism for observing and monitoring via the software on my laptop so when Ive had circumstances that have prevented me from getting into the office, i have been able to work via email and such at home, but its not ideal. luckily i have flexibility as far as hours and whatever days I want to be off, i can take them. as long as the call center is being run well, i can pretty much do what i want.

Yeah little hard to be a supervisor and not there to supervise
Yeah I can log in from home and do pretty much all of my job from home. It is nice. My company could not give big raises so they thought let us have some time at home to at least save on gas and such. I love my boss. She is real flexible with our hours as well. She lets me come in at 6 and get off at 3 so I can pick up my kid from school.

My new boss was the person who used to sit beside me and believed in face/time. Given the recent revelation in pay scales and my tenure at the company, I figure that if I go, I'm good for the rest of the year and will go contracting like the others.
