New member
so i have had a little trouble breathing probably cause i have put on 17 lbs in 10 weeks, however, had a cat scan done on my lungs and heart. everything fine but they told me i have an enlarged heart. they said it is totally normal for athletes and people that work out alot. been pumpin for 5 years and played lacrosse 4 years and tennis in college. anyone know about this topic

I know nothing about this but maybe someone else does.

I hope you get better soon.

heavy weight training does enlarge the heart due to the increased work load it is pretty normal from what i understand if your doc gave you the ok i would not worry
i wish i could give you more info but this is all i have hope it helps

heavy resistance training will hypertrophy your heart muscles walls(make them thicker). This doesnt really make your heart that much bigger. When your heart gets dialated( bigger around) it may be a sign of something else like high bloodpressure.

Same here, I also have a murmur which is common in athletes. AAS increases muscle mass, the heart is a muscle...so you do the math

Little knowledge can be dangerous.

There are two types of heart enlargement: Good one, and bad one.

Good one: Athletes heart. This is caused by cardio exercise, sports. The heart rate also slows down as the cardiac output per heart beat is increased. This type of enlargement provide protection against heart attack.
If your heart rate at rest is below 70, then probably you have athlete's heart.

Bad one: Caused by high blood pressure. Blood vessels don't increase in proportion to heart muscle. A risk factor for heart attack.

There can also be dilatation of heart because of weakness of muscle (congestive heart failure).

Cardiac muscle is different from normal (skeletal) muscle. There is no evidence that AAS increases heart size.
Growth hormone may increase heart size. Good or bad ???????????????

If the dr.'s aren't worried, it's normal hypertrophy from exercise. Most athletes get it to some degree, and it's not related to AS usage. There have been several studies done on weightlifters, almost all of them had enlarged hearts, whether or not they used AS. If it's LVH that's ok, if your entire heart were enlarged due to high BP, then that would be bad, but they'd have told you if you were in danger bro.

I agree. Nothing to worry about.

Yeah my post was on the assumption that it was due to exercise like his doctor told him. If he just sat on his ass and had hypertension through the roof, the enlarged heart would be bad.

AAs increases blood pressure which in turn can have an adverse effect on the heart. I take Lipitor and Atenolol for lipid profile and blood pressure.

my bp is 120 over 80, and that is bad for me, it will be back to perfect after deca and winny are out the system. thanks all of you bros, i gave everyone i could karma

LVH is enlarged heart.
RVH is rare, and only happens with pulmonary hypertension.
