Encouragement for 2006

I'm not sure if this is the right spot, so please move it if necessary.

I breif bit about me. I just turned 43. With the exception of several years of not lifting, due to marriage and too much work, I've lifted since I was 12. I'm a flyfisherman (thus the name rbtrout [rainbow trout]) and in 2001, I went fishing. I hurt my back on a trip by myself and realized that I had to get into shape just to be able to fish.

On July 5, 2001, I started my 'new life' of proper diet and exercise. I was a weak, skinny, fat guy - 205 pounds, 25% bf and everything but my belly skinny. Case in point - 11" arms.....flexed. My big 3 lifts were barely squatting 95 pounds, bench press of 4 reps at 135 pounds, didn't deadlift at all.

Since then, sticking to it very religiously, I'm now at 245 pounds and 17.5% bf. My big 3 lifts (1 rm) are 300# bench (with a shoulder that hates benching), 400 pound atf squat and a 500 pound deadlift. I've put 10" on my shoulders, 7" on my arms, 7" on my quads.

YOU CAN ACHIEVE YOUR FITNESS GOALS! Eat right, lift hard (don't forget your cardio!), sleep enough and stick with it. The biggest one of these is sticking with it. Set goals - short term, long term, body bf% (ignore the scale), lifting goals, etc. and stick with it. If I can do this, you can do this!

Have a good one man, doesn't matter where you post it, it's all good.

Now if could only get the eating and the rest down, the seemingly two easiest are always the hardest.

I'm starting out from the skinny end and I've probably got another 3 years left before I can make a post like that. Congrats, rbtrout!

I'm the fat skinny guy also... well more week then skinny. 2 month's ago I only wished I could bench 135 x 5 times, 95 was my max x 5. This past monday I reached my first short term goal of 200 x 1 and was able to get 165 x 10 times.

So far so good but the hardest thing I know will be sticking with it over the long run, especially when I stop gaining like I have been. Reading about a long term story like the one above is always good inspiration. So far the members of this board have been great inspiration and help to me.

Is that an oxymoron? You want to get bigger to land bigger or bigger to land finer?

Guess it's all relative, IMO fat bottom girls make the rockin world go round!!!
