My father's been an engineer at power plants since the 80's and they had access to Arpanet before there were even any non-profit bulletin boards on there. By '93 when some high profile museums had sites with color fonts and some (relatively) high res pics everyone at the plant was crowding about the terminals like they'd discovered fire.

You forgot about high speed internet. Back in the day it would take way too long to load the shit on webpages now.

My first modem was 2400 baud, lol. I had AOL version 1.8. Grey and white were the only colors. You had to open a special program just to view .gifs.
