I then went to California State University at Humboldt where I completed an M.B.A. While at Humboldt, I took the minimum number of accounting classes to qualify to sit the CPA.
I passed ALL FOUR SECTIONS of the California CPA exam on the first try in 1993. I was recruited from graduate school to work in public accounting.
I tried brother. I tried. But you went ahead and embarrassed yourself. I don't think of you as insecure. In fact, I don't think of you at all. But you put up 3 posts to flame me. So if anyone had questions about your insecurity, you've answered them.
Received a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering in 3 years...then was planning to go to Medical School but got scared off after talking to a few M.D.s as well as the lifelong commitment that the profession entails...

The simple fact of the matter is "Degrees DON'T mean shit" I worked for a High School dropout. He had his own consulting company in 88'. I worked as a programmer for him. The year I worked for him he made A QUARTER OF A MILLION DOLLARS. He is now living in West Palm Beach in a 4500sqft house w/pool w/tennis court and his company is MUCH bigger.
Bill Gates is a college dropout
Micheal Dell is a college dropout.
75% of all college graduates work in a field OTHER than what they studied for.
I have a friend who has his ME (Mechanical Engineering) from Georgia Tech. Straight out of college his starting salary was $25k (I made more than that parking cars). He started SELLING cars and made $80k the following year.
I worked with a woman who had a PHD in computer science. She couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time.
I worked with a 24year old MCSE who makes a $1000 a week working ten hours a WEEK. He is a HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE.
More than half the college grads I work with can't do simple math in their heads or compose a correctly worded and formated business letter.
I don't have a college degree. I have worked as an operations manger for an 80 million dollar company. As service manager for a 2 million dollar a year techincal service company (Revenue entirely managed by me). Programmer, Computer Tech, Network Tech. Store Manager, Purchasing Manager.
I currently make $70k a year in florida. Equivalent to about $110 in New York or California. Very low stress job.
As for court reporting,
My mother worked as a court reporter when I was younger. She does typig for them now. Most of the Reporters she works for make in execess of $200k a year. Many reporters make MORE than the Judge and the Attorneys COMBINED.
The court reporters in NY that are making $24k a year are working for the local goverment. Independants in NY most likely make several hundred thousand dollars a year. The problem with that profession is that it is VERY guarded. Almost like a "Good ole Boy network" If you're in, you're IN. If Not, too bad, so sad.
Income is NOT a result of education. It is the result of hard work, incite and having a product or service that people NEED. PERIOD, END OF STORY.
I shake my head at people with $50k - $100k in student loans and are making $40k a year. WHAT IS THE POINT.
I'd go with the Court Reporting thing but I don't have the patience to practice on a Steno for 4 or 5 hours a day for a year and a half. I'd go nutz!!!
It's going to be interesting when some of you jokers enter the work force.
Your degree will get you in the door but that is about all it will do for you. You are gonna be learning so much new shit that you are gonna be wondering "What the hell did I waste so much time in school for"
Who cares? I have a few degrees, but they don't mean shit in the long run. Sure, the experience and learning you can get from school is invaluable, and I'm glad that I've had opportunities that many have not been fortunate enough to have.
But, true education comes from experience and lots of reading.........I've went to school with some really hardworkers, who were really dumbasses.
