Drivers License

Its been a while since I have sent money via western union. I sent a small amount today (under $200) and the western union asked for my drivers license. I asked them if this was something new - the teller said they always ask for it for transfers over $1000, but they had never seen the computer ask for a drivers license for such a small transfer.

Could it be the country?

Could the person I am sending to be flagged?

Is this just a normal thing?

If you don't wanna show it you could always try moneygram..do they ever ask?

Here in the DC metro area a lot of the grocery stores require a license for anything over a $50 transfer.
