Double Overhand DL grip question

I've been doing my DL double overhand, and would like to keep doing so until I reach higher weights. (Currently my 5x max is 300lbs) I wondering if I have my grip right. Basically, when I come up with the bar, the bar is resting in my fingers on the first row of bones (between the first two knuckles). Is this correct, or should be bar be higher up in my hand?

don't worry about it, i deadlift double overhand too and I rest it in the first crease closest to the tip of my finger. if you try to hold it up in your palm, you'll get some major calluses.

I hold it up high and it rips my hands to shit. I rip calluses off all the time. I try not to use straps. I go to 405 without straps but start to lose it after 2 or 3 reps. Its just a really good grip/forearm workout to leave the straps out

Let it sit on your fingers, not your palm; just be sure you have a good hold of it. I don't even have calluses on my palm to get ripped, they're all just below the two joints on my fingers.

If you start with the bar sitting in your palm then it's going to slip down, anyway, and take some skin with it. If it starts in your fingers then it's already where it'll try to get to and there's no skin to get bunched up to form calluses.

Try using hook grip - it might be hard to hold up really heavy weights with just overhand grips.

I tried that, but I don't think my hands are big enough for it to be effective. Not to mention it was more painful than I was willing to tolerate.
