i bought my ala from kilo. i noticed that my throat burns some of the time does that mean i have a funky batch:confused:

To answer your question, No...your ALA is prob. just fine. Users of the powder report this burning as common. I remember when I used to empty my caps into my protien shakes and got the same burning sensation. Don't do that anymore.

Yep, if you look on the bottle it lists "Other ingredients". One for example lists - white rice and magnesium serate in the "other ingredients". www.anabolical.com has zero filler. You will notice this in the color. We list no other ingredients on the bottle because there are no "fillers"

Because there is no room for fillers in a 500 mg cap of ALA?

The one problem that all these places have is that they are selling you a mixture of r and s ALA. These mixtures are not 50-50 and they don't have to tell you how much r (which is the one that works) you are actually getting. So if you find that your results and sides vary from batch to batch that's why. All of the research done was done with the r and all the research done with the s was very disappointing. Thus the s is very cheap and used as almost a filler in the cap with the r in terms of what you need it for.

They are all 50/50 R & S. They are mirror images of each other and when they make it half is one form and half is the other. Pure S would be just as expensive as pure R. All ALA supplements should be the same. The only case when they would not be is if a company underdosed the product.

racemic mixtures should be virtually 50/50.... though that does not appear to be the case and may be related to the manufacturing process wherein a greater percentage of the synthetic S isomer is created..

actually production of pure S, at least according to the manufacturer reps is quite easy and cheap.. (though they may have been hyping there extracted R)..

there is of course the problem of underdosing.. which is unfortunately rampant in the supplement world both on the manufacturer and distributer side.. especially with more expensive raw materials... though there are many solid companies... but even a good distributor can get bent over by a shady manufacturer (take for instance MQ triple threat).. actually there have been several distributer recalls of pro-hormones recently..

BACK TO ALA
basically the R is effective the S is not.. the S is also with respect to GLUT related effects.. counter productive by apprx. 10-20%.. it may have other negative impacts.. but this is not clear at this time... I have used several of the racemic mixtures and they are effective at high dosages... the but what the negative impact of the high dosages of the S isomer are ???? --- thus part of the reason for moving to the R isolate..
