Doggcrapp training

Go fuck your own face!

Just started this yesterday. I've been considering it for over a year now, but was too stubborn to change. I figured like Dogg said if I couldn't full on commit then whats the point. I took some time to read all I could about it. Printed off all the good reads to have at my disposal and re-read them daily. Planned my routines and chose my excercises. First work out yesterday on the program and it went pretty well. Very much looking forward to reaping some of the results I've been hearing of. I have been working out for 12 years now and just needed a change of pace. My joints hurt all the time and my gains are slow.

I would love to hear some personal accounts of some of your progress from those of you who have both been on the program for years or even just a couple weeks.

How have things changed while "on" vs. "off'?

I currently am on, and am curious about recovery. Even while "off" I run HRT. I wanna jump right into the 4 day a week plan or just skip the 2 rest days on the weekends, but I don't wanna get in over my head right away.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

best place to find out everything about DC and read personal experiences are at intensemuscle...which is probably (hopefully!) where you already read everything about DC anyway.

Proof is in the pudding. Dante has trained many with great results (30-60 lbs gained in a year). I would follow the basic M-W-F plan for a while before you think about the M-T-Th-F one. He very rarely recommends that and only for guys with superhuman recovery abilities. If you are going as intense as possible, you will want to be on the M-W-F (or whatever works best for you Sa-M-W, etc.). If this is your first run stick with that. See how you respond.

Are you doing the extreme stretching too? Are you starting off with rest-pause sets or just straight sets?

I am doing the stretching, not the full 60-90 seconds. More like 30-45 to start. Shit hurts. Not doing rest pauses yet, but for a couple excercises. I kill it with a forced rep and very slow negative for now. I will add all that in over the next couple weeks.

BRW I did find alot on intensemuscle. Just printed off some new stuff to read tonight. It's kind of a work in progress right now I'd say. I wish I could speak with the man himself.

Do you use DC training? Progress?

I trie it once a couple years ago when I had a partner, but I didn't do the extreme stretching (that shit DOES hurt!). Needless to say my recovery SUCKED! After about 6 weeks I switched to something else.

Now I have been reading up on it for a while and have slowly implemented the extreme stretching into my other routine (still hurts and still trying to get to the full 60 sec.). I just started a DC program myself yesterday (going on Sa-M-W), and wow...even with the stretching it kicked my ass! I guess that's how I know the intensity was there!

I've done controlled negatives on most of my movements in the past but usually no longer than 3-4 sec. max. Going for 5-8 sec. and implementing the rest-pauses...wow...I am humbled. I definitely am using lower weights than I would with faster negatives and straight sets. But, they will go up.

I need to figure out a really good way to extreme stretch my LOWER back (spinal erectors). Gotta go look for that. Maybe a hanging stretch - like a SLDL but lighter weight and feeling it stretch the erectors?? - I hope!

I also need to really focus on diet too. I figure I'll do DC the best I can on my own a few cycles - probably fuck it up a bit but learn most of it - then see if I can get Dante or IH to train me. They will do training via email and phone, but are very selective in whom they take.

How many weeks are you going to Blast/cruise? I figure I'll start off maybe 4-6 blast/2 cruise, depending on how I feel. Then do it again.

Let's update each other every few weeks.

I just switched from DC. I love it but I haven't been able to consistently make it to the gym and eat right lately so I changed to something a little less structures. If you can train with some serious intensity and eat till you're gonna puke all the time you will make amazing gains.

As I am on a cycle right now and am used to high volume, I am going to shoot for blasting for 8-10 weeks. Like I said I'm not fully implementing all the principles yet, but will over the next couple weeks.

Today will be my second training session on the program and I am excited for 3 oclock. And it's leg day. I haven't gotten excited for leg day in a long time.

I am really looking forward to putting on some size. I started this cycle at 235 and have been stuck at 250 for 2-3 weeks now, but I had a bicycling trip that really threw a wrench into my workouts a couple weeks back. Now I am focused and ready to go all out again.

It may work for some, but when I tried it while on a cycle, I quickly overtrained. It was too much for my body to keep doing rest-pause over and over.

OVERtrained...on DC? Wow! It for sure kicks my ass each session, but I am recovered by the time the next one rolls around. If you aren't doing the extreme stretching you will not be recovered (unless you're a genetic freak) by the next w/o.

The way DC is set up is to push yourself just to the edge of overtraining, without going over that edge. It's a combo of every facet of the program, which are (in a nutshell): heavy progressive weights, lower volume but higher frequency of bodyparts hit, multi-rep rest pause training, extreme stretching, carb cuttoffs, cardio, high protein intake and blasting and cruising phases (periodization).

But, Dante has recommended if you're not totally in tune with your body and how it recovers, to try out straight sets first to gauge your recovery before doing rest pauses.

I didn't do the extreme stretching as recomended, but I gave it a trial run first to see how it would go. There were no outstanding size gains for me really all in all and it certainly didn't put on the strength at all. after a couple weeks they slowed very quickly. By the tome I was ready for a cruising stage, I knew this program wasn't for me. As I said, it may work for some, but didn't work for me. Which is fine, as you can say the same for many programs from person to person. It just shouldn't be touted as THE program above all others.

same here. are you a natural ectomorph?

I can beat myself silly with negatives, x-reps, drop sets, super sets, etc and not overtrain, but a few sessions of rest-pause work sets me catabolic

True, it is not for everyone.

you are also only supposed to do rest-pause sets if you have already determined that you can recover from the workouts doing straight sets and then static holds. If you don;t so the stretching and eat shit tons of protein you will definitely overtrain.
