Does bone structure really make that much difference?

Arnold was 6'2 and competed anywhere from 225lbs-240, depending on year. His body fat, and most bodybuilders from that era was around 7/8%. He had very small wrists, incredibly high peaked biceps, and low hanging pecs, all which help make someone look bigger. He also had 27inch thighs, with 20inch calfs. The huge calfs, huge upper body, but smaller, yet athletic thighs also help create an illusion.

I am 6'3 254lbs, with 12% body fat, and my arms are only19inches. His look way bigger. But I bet if I was 245 (since I am 6'3 1/2, he was 6'2), maybe 250 with 7% body fat, I would look a whole lot closer to him.

So, bone structure, low bodyfat, certain genetics gifts, and many otther little 'tricks' help.

Bro you got any pics by any chance? I have very similar stats and wanted to compare ... My arms aren't as big as your though.

Arnolds arms were unbiasedly measured at 19 and 7/8" durring a gathering of bbr's at Reg Park's South African home (I believe). You have to understand that they all LIED about their measurments, they had to only because all the other competitors did. Arnold wrist size was 7.5" (wrist size is a good indications of bone structure) AND 7.5 IS NOT SMALL. It only looks small relative to 19+" arms. There are other factors that have to be considered for ones overall growth potential including number of fibers per muscle, belly length, insertion point, nervous control and others that are determined by GENETICS. So don't get caught in a one size fits all formula for figuring out your size potential. Use your structure for a starting point for determining your goals, don't stop there. I am almost 6'3" w/ 7" wrists (medium/heavy structure) and supposedly cannot expect to achieve more than 17" HARD arms. I have, however, been 18 and 1/2" with high bf% and juiced, so for me I think the 17" rule is good. Yes, that sounds disappointing compared to todays bb standards; although, I wear 30-31" waist pants at my height. A small waist gives a larger look w/ relatively smaller measurements, I have accepted that I will never look massive. But an asthetic build is more beautiful. So don't dispair if you cannot achieve more; although you may not win the olympia you WILL get laid FAR MORE OFTEN than those w/ massive physiques :D

I have 7.5inch wrists too, yet my arms look like something that Arnold would feed from. :(

not sure... but bone density might have something to do with it??

i mean people always assume im 15+lbs heavier then i actually am... i do have a big build(6'2)..but i think people with say the same size generally are heavier then i am.. so Size doesnt=weight

Good point, I always wondered this ...

Lets not forget that Arnolds has like perfect muscle distribution. Everything single muscle on his frame is genetically placed in a way that he looks 2x as big as he is.

Bodyfat has ALOT to do with it, but even still, noone will will ever look like him again. Genetics.

My wrist are 8" and I am at 6'3" 240 lbs 10-12% bf. My arms are only in the 18" neighborhood. Does this mean mine should have potential to be bigger

ok so all this talk about builds and wrist sizes leaves me with questions. How do I figure out what kind of build I have and my genetic potential? Im 6' 185 just measured my wrists at 6.5" with a 32" waist and my arms are 16". Body fat was measured in september at 7% but I got lazy its probably around 10 now...
