Going to gyms is fun, but it gets real old... Driving their, distracted by gym blabbers, juicers leaving behind sweat puddles on bench, etc.. I'm about to buy a house and want to put equip in the basement

Who here has a good inhome gym? Did you buy all your equipment at once or one at a time? How many pieces of equipment do you actually have? Costly? Room wise? Tips? please share

very expensive if you want good equipment and enough weight. best bet is a power rack with an adjustable bench. but the db's get expensive if you use good weight. big investment but worth it if done right.

yes

I feel just like you, sick of the gym and others there.

If I had the room, I would have an awesome home gym. I would give up other luxeries for that.
If you check Craigslist you can find some awesome second hand equipment.

craig's list is a great idea.

we have a spectactular brand new (all York BB brand) power rack set up w/BB and plates and a whole rack of Dbs (kinda heavy for me, they start at 25 and then go to 50 and up) and an adjustable bench.

problem we have is the space is so tight (in lumber's office) with low ceiling and no enough room to really do anything.

i hope when we move we will have a large enough space with a high enough ceiling that i can really get back into it. i have to be able to do standing OHP, cleans and Push presses in order to be truly happy

Not as expensive as it looks. You can start with a power rack/cage whatever and a bench, and go from there. You do need the discipline of lifting at home because it's very easy to skip workouts. I never miss a workout btw.

I'm also a liar. ha

So what do you do for back? triceps? Oh, the smith machine.... I gave it away. I bought that because I workout by myself. I thought I could use it for certain lifts without a spotter. That was before I got the power rack.

Smurf, it's clean because I never use it. Look closely, you'll see dust. ha jk.

Don't look close!

That's an old pic btw. Everything has it's place though.

I have a free weight gym, nothing SUPER impressive. Been buying stuff over the last few years. Does save me some time, headache and I can stay motivated since I have to look at it all the time. Room is my biggest issue for me since my house is fairly small and older (built in 1920)... I have everything I need to work every body part. I do have two gym memberships also which get used rarely. I would say do it.

I would say do it! Only problem is heavy days need to have someone around to spot. I bench in my squat rack so it's fairly safe if you set it up right.

Less than a grand, 700 lbs of olympic plates, adjustable dumbells, flat and incline bench with preacher attachment, 4" metal box, belt with chain for adding weight to chins/dips and dip bar attachments.
