Does anyone get depressed when injured

Every time i injure myself, i don't feel like getting back into the swing of things with my workout regimen. If i hurt one part of my body, I stop working out completely. 2 weeks ago i separated my shoulder, I couldn't move any part of my anatomy without my shoulder hurting. Now i am able to work lower body and continue cardio, but i just feel lazy, Like if i cant work all of my body i wont work any of it. Does anyone else ever do stupid shit like this?

Oh yeah man. All atheletes deal with this, even professional from what I've heard. It really tests what's motivating you to be there in the first place and your will to want to get back to where you were before. If it's any consolation at all, you're not alone bro! :)

Injuries are a mental killer bros! I am a week in to my recovery of a bi-lateral (yes, as in two) hernia operation. I can't even look in the direction of the gym or touch a bench until at least November. Talk about a depressing situation. Not that I am huge my any means, but I can tell looking in the mirror that I am softening up and my definition is fading. I got pretty worked up a month or so ago when I found out I couldn't lift for close to two months, but I came on the board and some of the experienced bros here helped me keep my chin up. I know that I am going to lose some of my lean muscle mass, but the advantage of being in the shape that we are in is that it will come back; we just have to be patient.

If I have ever learned anything about lifting and gear it is this; "Good things come to those who wait"... so I sit here patiently waiting to recover, but in the mean time I search the board to keep my mental state healthy, so that I come back to the gym with more drive and focus then ever before...oh and maybe a few d-bols;)

Good luck and happy lifting!
:) :) :)

for sure bro,

ive got a couple of nagging muscle injuries ive had for a long time now. if i decide to take time off it really takes all of my energy to focus on staying healthy and getting back into the gym as soon as possible. sometimes it seems like they are never going to heal but you just gotta stick with it i guess.

I had two neck operations and was down 5 months, it sucked. I am back up again but kept thinking I would never be right again. Now all is good.

Thanks to all for the responses! I hate to hear of other people being down too. It really is a crappy situation to be in. (i guess there are worse things than being sedentary for a month or so). As long as i keep reading from the boards at least ill be getting smarter ( I hope :D )!----Moto
