Does ambien induce Non REM sleep

Ambien makes me sleep like a rock. I dont take it regularly but my buddy gave me one the other night and I got knocked the fuck out. Im wondering if you will enter your REM state while on it so your body can recover to the fullest? I dont plan on taking it regularly.

funny you mentioned that because I recently got my hand on some of that stuff and man, let me tell you, I WAS RESTED. I felt so good when I woke up exactly 8 hours after taking it. Not groggy, not sluggish; I just woke up and felt so refreshed. That stuff is truly a wonder drug.

I woundered the same thing becuase sometimes after really hard events I can't sleep well and having Ambien (even half a pill puts me out) on hand to induce an awsome REM sleep would be a major advantage...

I swear by it. Since Ive started drinking 1 plus gallons of water a day I wake every morning at 5:30am to take a piss. When I took the ambien that was the first time I slept all the way through without waking up to pee at 5:30am in about 3 months.

but this is a big deal... We should really try and get an answer the more you sleep in REM sleep the better your body can naturally biuld and recover muscle and energy. anyone have articles or research on this?

No. You do not get a full sleep cycle while using Ambien. That's why you shouldn't use it regularly. That's why people who do use it regularly have blacked out while driving. I blacked out riding a bicycle so I didn't really get hurt. And I'm not talking about being on it and blacking out. This happens during the day.

there is a lady on trial here in my hometown for burning down 8 very expensive houses, she is claiming she was under the influence of ambien...lol

anyways, i agree with ulter, sleeping pills are something you should try and stay away from if at all possible. I have a few xanax on hand and will take a 1/4 once in a blue moon if im having temp anxiety or just flat out can't slow my mind down to rest.

but don't become someone dependent on using drugs to go to sleep. I did it with G years ago and ended up with a horrible addiction. I had to have it to stay awake and have it to go to sleep(varying dosages). just let your body sleep naturally bro!

There is a study up in Canada where they went through the highway traffic records. They found over 100 people who had blacked out on the highway as a result of using Ambien, although they didn't say that. They had not taken ambien when they blacked out but had been using it regularly.

That's why I prefer to use Oxycalm and P7 as my daily presleep routine.. The combination is very effective AND they're good for your body..

i have no idea other than ambien is highly addictive. i know a pharmacist who was fired for stealing ambien from a few pharmacies he was working at more than once. has been in rehab too twice and may have lost his pharmacy license. also a guy i work w/ is crazy addicted, but he is just abusive, drinks w/ it and fights the urge to sleep just so he can feel fucked up. also eminem was just in rehab.
- i don't think it induces REM, just makes u sleep. not worth it IMO. all those who use it no prob, see what happens when they try to just stop for good...
oh yeah my 80yr old gramdmother too cannot sleep without now. i guess her body is also addicted.
