this sucks. i am the definition of a lazy man. i have been 3 weeks without a job now, and am no where near finding one. i havent been to the gym in probably a year. i would love to change this but i dont know how.

so basically im screwed then, when it comes to women?

no, there are plenty of lazy, desperate women who would want you.

not going to a gym might not matter to most women (doesn't matter to me), and if you're not working but actively looking, or if you're in such a specialized field where its not uncommon to look for work for months, you're ok.
if you just can't find a deli that needs counter help... you're phukked.

that ain't so.

the other thing i was just thinking about is class.
if one grows up in a higher class home (which may mean a higher income home), things like grammer (grammar?), social skills, taste in food/clothing/travel, etc might be a more important quality. Those qualities are usually found in more educated, higher salaried men.

a girl who's father is a cursing, crotch grabbing plumber (or whatever) won't be embarrassed or turned off by marrying the same, where as a girl who's grown up with a father who is a surgeon and a mother who is an attorney, will look for higher standards of a way a man presents himself.

it is what it is.

hmm.
i have enough money in the bank to be okay for awhile. although its lame cuz i still live at home with the parents.

im definately not happy at where im at in life. i spent 4 yrs in school for a psych degree and i cant do anything with it. and honestly IT (what ive been doing most recently) isnt my first pick for a job that i'd want to do long term. i only do it because im decent at it. but id hate going back to school for a degree in something else other than psych.

most of all though im disappointed about how lazy i am, and how my social circle is limited and how i havent been to the gym in ages, but i feel like i cant make any permanent changes. when i try to change stuff it just doesnt stick.

You can go after a teaching cert and teach...

You can join the military and go after whatever you want. Fuck, my dad's engineering unit is paying $35,000 bonuses for who ever signs/re-signs. The catch being he's killing Taliban by the dozen while fixing bridges and roads.

Go back to school and get a masters in something.

Before we go out to dinner. Clarification as to why BM used to date only self made men. Even though I can more than afford dinner out, I like to cook here at home.

Once you make it should something happen there is no question he can make it again. Character and all that go with men that make their own way in the world is not a negative. But she chooses to spend time with a man that can afford dinner and other perks that come with having disposable income. I am lucky enough to be married to her so the dating part is moot. Wooooo Hooooo

Comfort is all this is about. And cash doesn't make a man/woman, but, character and ability does. AND I know a few people that have won gold medals, they have some pretty hefty checks from sponsoships/endorsements and personal appearances.

All in all, moeny is merely a means to do what you want, when you want and how you want. I told BM when we met and today, money can't buy love, happiness, health or a minute of the day that has passed.
:santa:

I'm glad that you are aware that money does not make you ahppy bla bla.. but you could've simplified all of that by saying that money does not equal success. Those people who have won gold medals and been the best in their field (not necessarily sporting) often do not do so for money...they do it to be successful and the best that they can be.

i'm still considering this

i said to the man "are you trying to tempt me?" because i come from the land of plenty....

lazy and desperate? lol. desperate aint good.

im sort of stuck right now and not sure what i want to do career wise. i was looking at IT jobs for awhile, but now im kinda changing my mind.

i could find a job anywhere if i wanted to. im just not sure if i find $10 an hour to be an acceptable wage :(

and again, im not even sure what i want to do.

and if i meet a woman that doesnt go to the gym, thats fine, as long she was a gym-aholic like me at one point. and as long as she isnt fat, because im not fat.

don't forget to work overtime gentle

a guy thinks, "damn, I worked hard for my money, I'm going to try to save more."

a woman thinks, "that guy needs to make more money, so when i go shopping i can buy the most expensive shit to show all my friends. i'm about to dump his sorry ass, because i can spend all his money in just one day."

in one of my posts earlier i mentioned that i didnt want to go back to school. i felt like 4 years for a BA was enough school to last me a lifetime.

even so i might consider school, if i can find some type of degree that doesnt require any homework. like an automotive degree, electrician degree, etc, i could probably muster something like that. but i want to do that later. right now i just want to get a job and move out.

the army is always is a good deal, as long as you dont mind being involved in the business of killing people. :(

oh yeah, and to teach most psych classes, unless its highschool psych (those classes are pretty uncommon) you'd need a masters or doctorate preferably to teach in secondary education.

no, just one bad older sister. i feel sorry for that dude, ok, not really, he is fucking retard and i would love to slap some sense into him. i've seen her destroy guys.

ok, i can't forget about my friend's sisters too.

lol, the most fun is to torture one of those woman with the idea that you have tons of money, but you aren't going to give any of it to them. it's like they're sitting right outside a bank safe every day and will do anything for the key. you'd be amazed at the hoops they'll jump through. there really aren't as many of these girls as people make it out to be though. if you're with them, you sort of have to want to be.

My mom works for Central Maine Power. They hire people out of tech schools and these guys make like $38000 to $45000 right away. Some guys are making close to $30/hour after just a few years with little to no degree.

dangit, i guess there's no way for me to get a good paying job then without more education?

You make another good point (as does Bran).

A lot of guys set themselves up to be gold-dug. There is something to be said for staying just a tad low on the radar.

I think its fair to say that the majority of guys who do get raked over the coals probably should have known better in the first place.

it does not "stick" for a reason. you may not be happy with your place in life right now, or not know where you belong, but from the sounds of your post, your in a great position: You live at home, you have money in the bank, a degree, minimal resposibilities and time. So whats the rush? Why do you NEED to find a career now, a meaning now? Your living your life right... don't bog yourself down with decisions that dont really matter NOW!!! Go travel, go explore what's out there, go meet people.
Don't be down on yourself. :)

WERD

This whole thread is a mystery to me, why some people continue to get incensed over the standards of what others find acceptable/unacceptable in a perspective companion. If two people whose standards are in alignment with what the other is seeking are together happily then why should anyone else care? LMAO

I have been hung out to dry on these boards in the past because I prefer a man with old school manners. Interestingly enough another poster pointed out that men who travel in certain circles are more likely to exhibit such characterstics.

I am nearly 40 years old and I have zero issue expressing my preferences. If someone has a problem with that then that is on them. :)

You dont see me putting up posts cutting other people down because they might prefer the company lowlife simpletons.

PS - Did Shadow ever answer my question several pages back? You know the one about a woman's looks. If I missed his answer, I do apologize.

Men value beauty and women value security. All else stems from this.

Yet another indicator of your character. It's amazing that you still don't realise the real reason why so many dislike you. It's even more amazing that you're still so shallow and narrow-minded as to call men who aren't wealthy 'losers, lowlifes'...or whatever else. Believe me, I respect and know many better men than your husband (and thousands of other very wealthy people) who are not concerned with being rich or having anything more than a salary that allows them to live comfortably.

Naaa... you can quantify up-front costs on a "wealth discriminating" person, but it's the maintenance fees that can kill you. Perspectives between a perk and an entitlement vary wildly.

And the vast majority of hidden costs aren't monetary.

You did not say it as such but the inference is there:

1. "I dont date losers and this makes me a gold-digger?"

2. "they might prefer the company lowlife simpletons"

Maybe i'm wrong and maybe you don't really think this... but if i am then you have a serious weakness with words.

Similarly, with the success=money issue. The way that you and your husband have completely failed to see how this is not always true is another indicator of your character's. From this thread alone, i'd say that you do make a good couple...but i wouldn't particularly want to spend my time with you, as i'm sure you wouldn't with me.

LOL

I merely said that the thread mystified me as to why other people care whom those people want to be with.

If your preference is to date only women that are stunningly beautiful, good for you.

If your preference is to date only women who have no children from previous relationships, good for you.

If your preference is to date women who have never been married before, then good for you.

Does that mean that I think this means that ALL OTHER WOMEN who are only "pretty" at best, have any number of children and whom have been married before are not desirable?.... thereby calling you an ASSHOLE (because I dont fit any of YOUR criteria?).

Hehehehehehheheheeeee

See, my self-esteem is well intact and I dont feel personally attacked because I may or may not fit YOUR criteria in who you do or do not find desirable when choosing a perspective mate. You are free to choose as is everyone else.

I am still trying to understand why it is that YOU feel personally attacked because YOU may or may not fit the criteria of who I do or do not find desirable when choosing a perspective mate. <---- THAT is what mystifies me. :)

????? Jeez listen to yourself.

The girl that i am with is the person taht i get on best with in this world. That is my reason for being with her. You don't need to worry about me feeling personally attacked and i'm quite aware that you do not.

BM, i'll be frank, you are a master of talking absolute rubbish when you have any quality reply. I'm siding with the people on EF who have given you such a hard time...i think you do have some 'problems'.

Last time i checked this was an open forum and the question was an open one to which i gave my reply. Last time i checked you also couldn't provide an answer to my posts so had to suggest that i felt both personally attacked and was not happy in my own relationship. Are you still getting that counselling or has it stopped? Many months ago i sugested that you seek someone better and i stand by that now.

All the ongoing costs have to be factored to include any extraordinary costs, eg. new foreign sports car to make it to the spa faster. When there is an offsetting positive balance eg. saving 30k a month at gentlemans clubs you see where the value increases and the expenses become inconsequential.

Currently I am researching the 5000 mile engine out service for the 355F1 vs getting her a new one. That might be the only hairball. Foreign car services have really taken a bite out of my weekly salary as of late. But if she can shop faster perhaps a faster car would be in order; another compensating balance. So as I stated previously, ya get what ya pay for.

I am horrified that you aren't buying her a F430. Are you cheap or something?

The Atlanta Ferrari dealership has two F430's for sale. Both are low miliage and they are asking low 300's (320ish, if I remember correctly). That should hold her over until you can get a 599 GTB. Those will sticker in the low 300's, but they are wait listed for a couple of years. Buy a resale one -- I think you could snag it undriven for mid to upper 400's. You'd definately want a 599 long-term, since its heavier and safer than it's 8-cylinder counterpart.

Good lord. Step-up to the plate man. If you've spent $40+M on women in the past, what's $750K in sports cars?

Sheesh.

Actually, I am researching that exact topic. The Enzo that is in San Mateo is yellow, I hate yellow. If I am going to buy my wife a 1M toy it will not look like a really fast yellow cab. I found another one in Dallas, but it belongs to one of my indsutry peers, he is an asshole and I don't want his car because once again, smelly cars are icky. The 355F1 is an old car I have.... It already has 4480 miles on it, since I don't smoke the ashtray is unused, had it been dirty I would already have turned it in. When my ex used the ashtray in the DB9 I had to sell it. Stinky cars are icky!!

There is another Enzo in Dallas, but, it belongs to one of my industry peers. This guy is an asshole and wears too much cologne, once again, stinky cars are icky.

So I appreciate your input, I am researching all this car thing and the associated expenses as quickly as possible. Afeer all I have only ben married for a week and have a number of vehicles that will do in a pinch. I am also looking out for BM's safety as the Z06 had some engine work done increasing the HP to about 750, as you can imagine being the doting and loving husband I am, there is no reason to be usafe in a car that is not familiar to her.

Once again I really do value your imput and should you have more please fel free to help me out in this research. OR if you have a black or dark blue Enzo in your garage please PM me and we can pop over for a test drive.

Reagrds!

There is no inference of the such, but was in your head alone as I specifically pointed out to you already. But my answer was not good enough?

OK - we will try it from another angle.

If you told me that your preference was to date caucasion women would I automatically infer from this that you are a racist?

You have some idea in your head because I prefer not to date men that are 48 years old and still living at home with no money in the bank, living pay-check to pay-check that makes me a gold-digger. Good for you.

I have pointed out that my own parents couldnt speak a word of English yet they came to this country and did fairly well. I learned old-school manners and their apprecation from my parents and they never got passed the 8th grade in their own country, forget about an education here.... dont get much more blue collar than that.

As for my necessary criteria of the man having the appreciation of aesthetics. That has nothing to do with money and everything to do with a man's gentleness and life experience.

Character, kindness and wit, the knowledge that sex is a gift (and NOT a commodity) to be shared between two mutally consenting adults... also necessary criteria.

So you were saying about me and my husband <----- a man that you know ZERO about? But according to you if he chose me then there *must* be something wrong with him. LOL

I dont date 20 something year old men. If a man is in his mid 40's and has not achieved a modicum of success then why would I give him my time? I have known MANY men that had achieved tremendous wealth only to lose it in one fell swoop. They didnt just curl up in a ball and die, but got back out there and built back up.

You assign feelings to me that I do not have then you get pissed at me for them..... but I need "help"? Dude... scroll back and reread my posts.

Bmom, you write way too much...if you could be more concise then perhaps you would spend less of your time here.

Now...these two sentences that you have made do infer that you do not think a lot of men who are not wealthy:

1. "I dont date losers and this makes me a gold-digger?"

2. "they might prefer the company lowlife simpletons"

I admitted that maybe i was wrong but said at the same time that if you do not bellieve that men with low salaries are 'losers etc' then you have a VERY bad way with words.

Re your husband...i know that he shares/shared the same view as you that money=success. That is all i need to know.

Well, for me personally I have dated on both sides. I generally go first for the ones I am attracted to and both rich and poor can make you happy or sad. I would however like it if my SO make at least as much as me with todays cost of living.

Reagrds!

You're not going to get a decent Enzo for $1M. Lake Forrest Motorcars has (or had) a black one for $1.4M.

And you should know as well as I do that you don't drive an Enzo. They are collecter's items. With their undrivably-low front-end clearance, $750 in oil per change, and quickly-degenerating breaks they are earmarked as track-only cars. Besides, a lot of Enzo technology has been driven into the F430 -- their 0-60 times are both right at 3.3ish seconds. The 599 is the same way. As a matter of fact it even uses an Enzo engine.

The 599 is obviously the way to go. It's the safest, high-performance solution. I'd love to hear and see what you wind-up with :)

No darlin... what you dont get is that you have a perception of me that is on you. If you want to continue that perception, rock on my brother. Just please dont put words into my mouth then continue to get pissed at me for it.

Because I said that I dont degrade other members for prefering to choose to be in the company of low-life simpletons that does not mean that I said or ever believed that ALL MEN who do not fit MY particular dating criteria = low-life simpletons. That is a conclusion that you alone arrived at. So stop getting annoyed with ME for YOUR conclusions. I was merely using an extreme example to illustrate my point.

In my estimation a gold-digging female is as undesirable as a low-life simpleton male. Get it now?

Your posts continue to demonstrate just how close-minded you are.

Again, that isn't on me. That is on you.

You have a very bad way with words, darlin. Tee hee.

nah... I make enough to support myself, never did matter to me.

Jesus Christ, don't you people know how to insult someone properly? this is like arguements on fucking quaaludes....

DAMN, just Friday the damn Enzo was just over 1mil a couple thousand if they are appreciating that fast we better get a couple so we can have some retirement money. I was told the damn BB512 was going to be a collector car too. But hey If I have something with wheels I am gonna drive the damn thing. Now the Yugo, it had wheels but would never start. When the gas tank was full it doubled in value when the windshield was dirty they ins co totaled it.

I wanted a pointy looking Ferrari car not a toyota looking fat bodied car. Now the Enzo, we need to get those two so we can drive over speed bumps and get a lot of tickets. and $750 for oil? Who cares the old POS 355 F1 to change the belts and service the old dog is about 6k Course they do have to remove the engine, I guess they don't have any tiny wrenches to fit in the engine compartment, must be a lot easier just to take the engine and stuff out to work on. That way they can walk around it and don't have to get dirty. Personally I am not at all unhappy to pay a few bucks extra so some mechanic doesn't sit on my tan leather seats with his greasy ass. I was gonna have a cup of coffee and wait but the belt change takes a week and although the dealer offers free limo service and lunch or drinks they didn't have one couch that looked comfortable enough to sleep on. SO the bus stop was close by. I actually enjoyed bonding with the guy that cleans the grease trap at Applebees. He gave me some great suggestions on how to not get a clog in the grease line at home and how to prevent grease fires in the kitchen.

The last stop was the best, four kids with black clothes and white faces got onboard the bus. Now they have some interesting viewpoints on life, mostly death. But we can share those thoughts on another day.
Hey once again, thanks for helping me in this research and pointing out I need to call and get both of those damn Enzos, value increasing 300k a week I'm in!

Why don't you roll your oil play into a pink sheet trading shell....and then load up on foreign cars as corporate vehicles.

DAMN! I wish I woulda thought about that!!! NOw we can support all the oil sales here in the US by driving cars that are made in Italy!!

Yeah, I'm guessing you'll do a "no money down" deal on that 1989 Supra any day now.

I've purchased from LFSC before. I'm amazed at their inventory. They have serious hook-ups in the car industry.

Money is what a lot of the most intelectually challenged and undeserving celebrities have. Anyone can have it if they really want it enough. You just need that certain mentality than certain people on this thread have (i.e. the 'if you're rich and have made it yourself then you're successful').

successful to me is two people with their children living happy lives, no matter the income status at all. I've trinkled on both sides and have had the opportunity to get into a relationship where i'd never have to worry about money again but yet that did not make me happy. What makes me happy is family, rich or poor.. its unity. There is nothing like it. Most rich family's I know don't even know their children or their activities, are not a part of them and don't desire to be. They hire someone to bring them from place to place. I DON'T and will NEVER want that for my kids. I rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable. But that is just me. Love is love is love! I will love you for who you are, Love me for who I am. A ditch may seem like a canyon at times and a hill may seem like a mountain at times.. but eventually we shall overcome this and because OUR LOVE was built on love alone and not the material things surronding us, then we have built a stronger wall to fend off the ill people that will continue to try to take us down.

IMO its a philosophical question to say if you had to choose between love or money or something, but in practical terms I guess i could deal w/ it, but for what I want out of life, and the life I"ve set for myself, it has a certain pricetag that taking in someone else w/ a much lower income probably wouldn't fly real far w/ me if its up to me to essentially support us both. That's me tho - the attributes that I am attracted to generally in guys are paired w/ a certain level of education, job, ambition, etc. I am not looking for millions of dollars but a good living that provides stability enough to not worry too much about retirement, etc. is my requirement. My parents are retired now and are doing very well, but they are also fairly frugal and simple-needs people. But they have 3 cars, the summer cabin & the winter condo on the beach - they put all their work & effort into the family biz and its paid off. I'm single right now, no particular thing to invest in so much of my money goes to being mobile - so I worry about when I need to eventually settle in somewhere and have enough to retire esp if I'm still single or whatever. That sort of thing really makes me pay attention....

If I were younger I"d be much more flexible w/ my "money requirements" because the assumption is that I'm (and he is) somewhere on the ladder going up as opposed to "this is as good as it gets".

Successful to me is just being happy that you have achieved, or are achieving what you set out to. If you and those around you are happy then what else really matters? To say that success equates to making money is very sad IMO.

Hope things go well for you Frisky.

I agree

You set a goal, some would be millions others in the 6digits some just want to get to a pt where they can pay their bills with extra to spare. It is all subjective from person to person.

Success for me is taking where you are and setting a goal getting there. There is NO price tag on success!

I for one have had plenty of very successful rich friends (well married into wealth) That are now more miserable than I could ever be. I struggle being a single mom, from pay check to pay check and still I am happier than they are. Its amazing or really quite weird for them to tell me they envy my life. My relationship with my kids and my beau... because all they have is a check book and credit cards to fulfill their needs. All good for the first few months but then it gets empty, not the check book but the emotion.... I prefer to be broke with love than rich with emptiness!

Yeah. Fundamentally all people really want is someone whose kids will survive into adulthood and procreate themselves. Everything else is filler or just an offshoot of that simple fact. Women get that by finding a man who can protect and support them, men find it from fertile women.

it does not "stick" for a reason. you may not be happy with your place in life right now, or not know where you belong, but from the sounds of your post, your in a great position: You live at home, you have money in the bank, a degree, minimal resposibilities and time. So whats the rush? Why do you NEED to find a career now, a meaning now? Your living your life right... don't bog yourself down with decisions that dont really matter NOW!!! Go travel, go explore what's out there, go meet people.
Don't be down on yourself. :)

thanks for the positive support. the reason im unhappy is because i want to move out into my own place and there is no way i can do that without making some money. also my parents have noticed my laziness too and want me to get a job, lol. so yeah thats creating some tension with them. and of course, the longer the employment gap the worse it looks on the resume.

my life is actually pretty boring right now. im not really meeting many new people nor do i have many hobbies or anything. i think one of the things thats holding me back from this is that its hard for me to think about those areas when i know i dont even have a job!

the thing that scares me is that i just have no idea what i want to do for a career now. and i know i should commit a few years to something, because when people dont have commitment on their resume, that looks bad!

Thoughtful of your parents to have a bust made of you when you were a little tyke.

References to salt abound in languages around the globe, particularly regarding salt used for food. From the Latin "sal," for example, comes such other derived words as "sauce" and "sausage."

Get a real estate license, you'll have to take a class, study, take a test and have someone hold your lic. - it's social, you can learn about different things - sales, marketing, farming, socializing for business and the best local places for lunch and you may even make some money.

It will keep you busy and may help you to spark something in yourself as to what you want to do everyday for $$$$.
