do your knees ever burn after leg press?

are u doing heavy wieght because i get the same problem after about 10 plates .. get your self a set of knee wraps.

according to a few personal trainers i know leg presses are bad for your knees in general (not just you and me)

yes heavy for me, 300-350 lbs. I've never heard that about leg presses, I wonder if it would be a good idea to replace them with something less straining, lunges maybe?

no offense but lunges are for women .... pretty much any leg exercise is gonna put some stress on the knees.....

when doing leg presses make sure u dont lock out ur legs, that puts extra stress on the knees.....

Put 225 on the bar and do 10 reps per leg or hold a 100 lb DB in each hand and walk/lunge across the gym floor. You may walk away (if you can still walk) with a totally different perspective on lunges..............

maybee , i was a little ruff on saying they are for women , i appologize .. its just i have never seen any man at my gym doing them just women and those little track star people.. you are probably right if i put a shit load of weight and do them they might work great but regardless like pretty much any leg exercise , it will put some stress on your knees.. ill just stick to squats , leg presses , leg extensions, and various machines i now use

If ronnie does them then i definately retract my negative statement......... .

I understand what you meant, actually. As lunges are typically done in the avg. gym, they're not at all on a level with squats, for instance. They're used as a kind of young womens' "toning" type movement 95%+ the time it'd seem.

Worked hard and with a ton of weight, though...yeow! Yes, they are pretty nasty. I also prefer a squat or good leg press to them for simplicity's sake, but they can be very effective.

Come on man, with al due respect but if you're allready getting joint problems doing 300-350 lbs (130-140 kg) on the leg press then maybe you're just not build for bodybuilding.
That's a weight the women at my gym use :(

Thats not right , how do u know how much he weighs ? he could weight 130 lbs ....... and to press 350 at that body weight isnt that bad...is it ? He could also have a history of knee problems.

you're an idiot.

No PAIN is normal! Just make sure you are not going down too much, by that I mean when your spine is curling in you are going down too much, and don't lock your legs up when on top.

BTW Moen no need for negative criticism, you aren't helping out anyone with your "words of encouragement".

first off, back when i was a high jumper i used to do lunges all the time, and explsoive lunges with a lighter weight. I have never felt that much pain even from squatting (although squatting is definitely a better compound movement). They work the hell out of your quads and hamstrings.

audio, how often are you training legs? Number of sets, rep ranges? You may need to cut down on the frequency and/or volume, and not just change exercises.
Are you doing any other leg work?
