Do you tell your doctor your on AAS?

My point though that if something does happen to go wrong your most likely going to have disclose your AAS use at that time so why not be upfront about it to start with.

The way I see it, the only real risk factor is liver function (I'm a low doser). I get all my bloodwork done privately without a doctor and monitor it myself. If the liver values rise too much, the only fix is to stop taking the shit anyway....what use would a doctor be?

Well, here's my 2 cents from someone who tells my doctor everything from day 1 and was told to do so by him for various reasons:

1) If you do not tell him... then when you come up with high liver enzymes, high blood pressure, terrible cholesterol numbers, and elevated testosterone levels, etc., your going to have to find a way to explain to him why you have those statistics. If you refuse to admit you take steroids, your going to have in your medical history that you have a ton of issues that are unaccounted for, and that you didn't take any medications to fix the problems.

2) Your medical notes never go to your insurance carrier. Your insurance company doesn't even get to see your blood panel work unless you authorize it when it's time to re-up your insurance. The only things your insurance company sees is how many visits you had to the Dr, what kind of doctor it was, and what medications you actually filled at the pharmacy because they pay your co-pays to Walgreens, etc.

3) Most importantly is that your doctor has the medical requirement to treat you when you have issues, regardless of the cause. I get all my PCT from my physician, with him knowing full well why I need them and my insurance covers the Rx fills. If he/she knows why your levels are what they are, they can help you get them back to where they need to be.

4) Someone already touched on this.. Doctor-Patient Confidentiality is above the law, not even a subpoena can be issued to break it unless the defendant wants his/her doctor to testify.

It always feels "weird" to tell them, but they've heard it before. It's the same as telling your Dr you any other drug, no big deal to them. Plus I'd rather take US pharmacy PCT and not pay for it.

+1 excellent post snow, I recently saw my doc and out of habit just denied aas use, but in the future I may be a bit more open for the sake of my health. But i totally agree it would feel "weird" to discuss it.

You need to read the fine print.

Every time you go to a new doctor you sign a bunch of papers. One of them is for you signing way your doctor patient privilege. If you admit to using a controlled substance it will come back at you big time. Remember roids are the same as heroin in the eyes of the law and your health insurance company. Your health insurance company will use every trick in the book to not have to treat you. Your own admition of drug use is just such a tool for them to drop you. They will take your money all the way up until you make a clam and then they will drop your ass because you are a self admitted drug abuser. Don't cop to shit folks.

my doctor knew of my steroid use. he knew dosages, compounds, he knew whan i was blasting and when i was cruizing. i saw him every 2 weaks. i was scripted blood thinners, bp meds, mood stablizers and other drugs to keep stable. he also probably saved my life. i called him at about 9:am having something i could only describe as a wierd fealing in my chest. he told my wife to get me to the hospital right away and he met me there. my heart was serously inlarged and my levels went crazy i was on the verge of heart failure. all i knew was i had a weird fealing in my chest. i have no doubt that with out working with a doctor i would be dead right now.
