How hard and how often?

I have been sick with the flu for about 4 days and I don't know if I should still train or take a few days off from training:confused:

NO ! is the short answer, i have done this and i have made myself worse . even if you think wow i can easyily manage this, i am feeling better, just wait a few more days.

I will take your advice and stay home until its safe to train again.
Its just that I have taken 2 days off already and I fear all my hard work will slowly diminish if I take more time off :(.

You are right it may get worse if I train and I will also expose the rest of the gym to my flu. Thanks for your input guys.

In years past I would always push myself too far when sick. Id force workouts with bronchitis. Honestly, when I was younger my body could tolerate it and even at times it would make me feel better. But nowadays, I baby myself so much. If Im sick, I will wait until Im at least 85% better, if not fully recovered, before I go back into the gym.

Depending on my symptoms - I will train....BUT if I have: a fever, coughing, sneezing, all around gross stuff going on, then no I won't....

A light cold is fine, but the flu is not....don't want to give everyone else my illness.....

Andrew Dan-Jumbo from "While you were out"

that fucking sentence you just typed looked like japanesian to me.

is his last name fucking Dan-Jumbo??!~

what the frig is "While you were out"?

that dude is FUGLY

I used to train no matter what and since I workout at home wouldn't be risking making someone else sick. I'll take a couple days off but will train if I'm not 100%, I was decapitated once and still had a great leg day. :lmao:

I've been since last friday, and I still trained. I find that as long as I'm resting so I can fight off the bug during the day, I have the energy to do it, and actually feel better for it.

I go for a 1-2 mile run if it's nice out. Cardio is good to do if you have enough energy when you're sick.

yeah Im way more likely to do some sort of cardio exercise than to lift weights when Im sick. It feels good to do a mild cardio wkrkout and to work up a sweat, but it does not feel good to over exert yourself when ill.

cold and the flu are MUCH different.
i would not work out with the flu. For the sake of yourself and others. a cold is more mild. most people should be able to work out when you have a cold.

ive been on antibiotics for 3 days now for a sinus infection which I had for like 3 weeks before I finally went to the doctor. This past week I trained 2 times, week before that trained 5 days but week before that didnt train at all.

heading back to the gym today. im feeling pretty good actually.

If I can get there...I can train.

Do something to keep the blood moving. If you take more than four or five days off then you risk deconditioning and that's just a nuisance.

No way, if you're training with the flu then you're really not doing yourself any favours. Lots of rest gets you back on your feet quicker.

That's the only time I go to the gym. I walk around coughing and sneezing on the equipment, asking people if they need a spot. ;)

That way I'm not the only one sick.

I barely train when I don't have the flu.
