Do you open doors for ladies?

I don`t really do that. I will if I`m there and it`s convenient, but won`t go out of my way to do it. No offense to the ladies at all. Just never did that.

At least I`m admitting it. I do however treat ladies with a lot of respect.

My passenger car door is broken so you have to open it with the key, so i usually go and open the door. Thats the only time really. The car door opening is a bit awkward but I open open other doors for the woman.

Women don't appreciate that like they used to....it's no fun when they just expect it.

Yes. I did this morning at the post office. Some woman and her bf were carrying in boxes to mail. It was an automatic courtesy.

Yes.

If I am not dressed (meaning sneakers and jeans) it is nice to have a man open the car door and help me out but I don't get annoyed if he doesn't. However, if I am dressed in heels and a skirt, if he does not there is never another date. It is extremely awkward for a lady to get in and out of a car without help when she is dressed this way.

As for doors... am I capable of opening my own? NO DUH. Do I wait for it from a suitor? YES. Why? Just old fashioned, I guess. If he does not extend this courtesy, there will be no future dates.

Call me old-fashioned in this respect, but it works for me.

(On a side note... one place I am not old-fashioned, it is in the bedroom. So I don't think that asking this from a man is too much.)

No, it is not. :)

What's funny is when I'm holding the door for a few ladies, and a guy tries to walk through too, I butt in front of him and kinda push the door behind me.

Or when they don't say thank you or even acknowledge it.

That pisses me the fuck off. :chomp:

That never pisses me off. I just look at that as they're declaring who they are. It actually doesn't hurt me. I open it because it's my choice. After that it doesn't matter.

Declaring what?? That they're above common courtesy??

It is always a pleasure to open a door for a woman if she thanks you or just smiles to you

If she does not even look at you it makes me wonder if it is worth it

I like it when men do it for me.

But if I'm going out the door first I will open it for men
and ladies..It's the most courteous thing to do.

not only do i open doors for ladies but i do that for everyone! I'm just a friendly guy to get to know.

Same. then usually both of us are standing at the entrance, waiting for a few moments for one of us to go through, we keep exchanging enquiring glances, then exasperated, I shout "Fuck sake hurry up and get your arse through the bloody door, numb nuts!" and my good deed is cancelled out.

I only say that to the guys though ;)

if im trying to be romantic and all that, then sure

but for the most part, chivalry is dead as a doornail so women can bloody well do everything themselves. and that includes paying for their own stuff.

Ya - equal opportunities and equality of the sexes; you bloody well wanted it ladies so you can open your own damn doors and pay for your own bloody drinks

Yes, I do. I'm just that way I guess. I have always done it for mostly women, and the elderly. I am not a dick though, I hold it for guys as well. If I get the feeling right away that that person is a miserable P.O.S. (piece of shit), then I say screw it, and just swing the door open and walk through. Girl, elderly whatever,... no matter to me then....In those cases, then I don't hold. Usually, though when this happens, I always have judged right. Either way, I don't mind being polite and respectful, just as long as I sense that person appreciates it, a nod, is all I need in return. They usually always thank me, and it has happened that the ones that just walk through, without so much as a not even a nod, look, or a "thanks"...I then yell "YOUR WELCOME" LOUD sarchastic-like as they walk by me, (he-he)and I always get the response I want when that happens as well. (smiles...)

I open doors for anyone close enough to the door I'm opening (if they're not too far away). That's just how I was raised.

You have a picture in your gallery called "silvernails". Do you actually think anyone NOTICES your nails?

My nails are 100% for me (well, and my finace loves them for back-scratching purposes). I've not even had them for a loooong while though as we're in the midst of buying a house and we're watching every penny we spend. I just got them done again when I got my engagement ring as I knew I'd be having hand pics taken.

Buying a house is FUN stuff, I hope it goes smoothly. My wife gets "French tips" done on her fingernails. Although at the holidays she always gets some cutezy thing put on one or more nails appropriate for the holiday. And yes, she is a princess. LOL

The house is SO exciting. I'm luckily with a general contractor too so he knows how to do pretty much everything. We're going to gut the kitchen and upstairs bath before we move in....we still have the apartment for a few months. And a lot of his friends owe him work in return for what he's done for them so we're getting our entire basement finished for beer. ;)

Ladies??????????????

I find women to be generally rude and selfish people and I don't treat them differently or preferentially either.

Men treat me much better as a rule, women have really gotten into this assertiveness crap. I almost cringe when I have to deal with them if they have that certain assertive air about them.

Technology will replace them if I am very, very lucky.

On a date I always open the door for her.

In everyday life I will hold the door for anyone who is right behind me. If I see someone coming with their arms full and nobody around, I will wait and hold the door for them.

I find on dates that not many guys open car doors or doors. Whenever a guy does, I'm really surprised and think it's nice change. I don't expect it, but I do like when it happens.

I'm with big4life... I hold doors for people behind me or if I see someone coming with their hands full.

The great thing about the advancement of technology is, it is creating harder slamming doors. Not like 10 years ago when them things was automatic and shit. If you time it just right, you can slam those internal organs right out her mouth. Practice.

I never expect anyone to hold the door open for me. But if someone does, I most certainly tell them thank you in a very appreciative manner.

I hold the door open for people all the time coming in and out of the gym usually.

And my boyfriend gets a little irked when i open the door first and dont let him so it. I just dont think its that big of a deal. Im like "i can open the door just as easily as you can" LOL so its no biggie.

My beau doesn't do the door thing but he does do many thoughtful things for me that he knows I would never ask him to do.

Like help me wash my car.
Drop off my watch that needed a new battery.
Bring me lunch while I'm working.

Well my beau does a whole lot for me than that.
