Do you microload?

I'm sick of not making progress in my overhead press. I hit the same damn plateau every time I lower the weights back down and ramp up again. I'm thinking of making some of the Madcow chainlink microloading rings. Anyone else do this to improve their OHP?

hell yes I do!

I was stalling on ALL my lifts until I made some of those chains.

In my opinion, they are a neccessity for anyone who's been training for over a couple months.

I got by doing 5 lbs jumps for a few months. But I was a complete noob at the time.

I use the chains. I have 1 pair that equals 2 1/2 lbs and another that equals 1 1/4 lb. I did 3x5 straight sets until I started to stall, then switched to 3x5 ramping.

If you not making progress then that is what you do. Gaining bodyweight helps too. My presses went up lb for lb as my weight went up.

I use them too.. they tend to attract douchebags with questions and sarcastic tones, unfortunately. But they work.

what weight do you use for microloading?? I read an article for bp that had big ol chains that extend to the floor at full extension so that it was at it's lightest when the weight was on your chest and heaviest when youu were fully extended!! but that's about the most I've seen about this... and seeing as I've been at a wall for sometime on bp and couple others it's about time I start lookin for some alternative training methods!!

Micro-loading in this context is simply using small plates or a handful of links of chain to offer the possibility of continuing to make progress when adding five pounds to the bar is too much. By using such as half-pound plates or a few links of chain, you can add a pound to the bar and still grab a PR. It might seem like slow progress but the small increments add up over time.
