Do you/have you ever lied on your resume?

I find these days most companies don't even check things like asking for confirmation of education and you can give references that have nothing to do with past jobs for the most part or have people lie for you.

I'm wondering to what extent you can bullshit on a resume and then just learn really fast at whatever job you are given. I know I have lied about my university major before to suit whatever job I was applying for - but I got my degree ten years ago so checking would be a waste of time.

Anyone ever get their foot in the door or land a sweet job they technically weren't qualified for by lying or "changing" their resume to suit a job better?

I have neer lied BUT embelished a little on the job description.....but you NEVER want to lie on some thing they can check....

no. Usually they don't check squat on higher level positions. They just have something called a 'probation period' instead. We have it too. Thoroughly interview the guy, and if he's lying about what he can do; it'll show up during hte probation period hwere he can be fired at-will.

No, lawyers actually do check these things. If you lie on something like that, you will get blackballed in my field.

Companies are starting to check more now then ever before .

We hired a guy based on his resume , he moved 1000 miles and bought a house close by work & went into dept up to his asshole moving here ..... then we fired him a month later when we found out he had lyed on his resume . Hows that for getting fucked

i dont lie,but I word things to make it seem like im more experienced or more qualified then I actually am,it works,my current job I walked into the interview, the lady looks at me,says lets not bullshit, your resume is fantastic,do you want the job

I had lied once that I knew windows when up to that point I'd never been on a computer other than a MAC.

I bought a Windows for Dummies book Win95 and read it the weekend before I started.

No one ever knew.

A side note, my former employer hired two different people that both stated that they knew AutoCad and yet the could never "get anything to work right". I didn't know the program at the time so I was no help. They spent upwards of 5k on a program and a printer and they both lied so well, the owners thought their equipment was defective.

I never knew how outrageous the lie was until I learned auto cad - I mean they couldn't plot or select line weights.

No,but I wish I had.Tried out for Sheriff's when I was in my early 20's.Had I not been so forthcoming of my violent background I may have made it through.Passed the physical, oral, written, and psych tests-they nailed me for my honesty of all the brawls I had been in.

Weird you say that.I knew a kid who tried out for the same position as me and made it through. He was quite popular as a dope DEALER when we were in our teens. He obviously was either not as forthcoming as I,or they prefer dope dealers over scrappers.lol

damn, tell me it isn't so...

the first thing you learn in autocad is how to plot, select line weight, colors, etc.

Yo vel.. you have any job openings in your area

That's what all my friends who knew him said-that he must have just lied his ass off, then knew how to beat the lie-detector test follow up.Guy was a total fuck-up,now he's making about 65k a year plus kick-ass benefits in a senior position with the po-po.
