Do you have an IUD, if so

I'm scared.

Hmmm that raises the fear factor to basements, driving in the rain at night and IUD insertions.

I had no pain, just what felt like an intense cramp that lasted all of about 5-10 seconds. Then that was it! You take some ibuprofen a couple hours before going in, and you're good to go.

...and woohoo! No more hormones!!! It's so worth any discomfort. :D

Insertion takes about a minute. Somewhat painful yes, but I'm sure it's a LOT less painful than childbirth!

I did have some heavy crampy periods for awhile, but now I hardly even notice.

Slicker than oil you are - yep - slick she would be....

THAT HAS GOT TO BE THE FUNNIEST LINE EVER!!!! :FRlol:

My gf has IUD inside of her too. I asked her what kind, she said it was made in germany, lol.

My second child with my exwife was conceived while she had an IUD which made it very dangerous. They had to go in & take it out immediately & they monitored the fetus for quite some time for fear of birth defects. Not to try to scare anyone but, like most other forms this too is not 100% Just something to keep in mind. BTW, the fetus is now a very healthy 5yr old girl :)

I'm not real sure how I ended up on this thread though? I was searching for info on Taurine.

So, for the most part, you've all had positive experiences with IUD's? I was on the pill (Yasmin) but got off of it because I was concerned the hormones would mess with my training and interfere with fat loss. They say Yasmin is not supposed to make you gain weight, but I know my chest was bigger. But, now I'm using "the sponge" which is okay, but has some drawbacks, such as you can't really be very spontaneous, it has a really nasty tasting spermicide in the sponge, and you can only order it over the internet. So, I'm thinking of switching over to an IUD. Are their any drawbacks at all?

Here's some good reading for you: http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=140391&highlight=paragard+iud

Also, there's a little-known non-hormonal oral contraceptive that a couple of us on the board have tried: http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=183828

And lastly, I practice (or practiced, when I was still having sex) ovulation tracking as a method of birth control: http://epigee.org/guide/natural.html#thermal

I've got a IUD as well. I believe mine is a Paragard. And had it inserted in 2000.

I've never regretted it. :D

Does anyone Know?

Is there anyone here know if you can get an IUD before you have had children. I had read somewhere before that it was only after you had kids. As well does anyone know if it will affect your future fertility? I don't want kids now but ask me in 5 years and I may have a different answer. I really would like to get a none hormone form of birth control.

I have an IUD and don't have kids, BUT I'm not planning to have any in the future either. Some studies show increased risk of infertitily, others don't, but if I'd thought I might want kids, I would've chosen a different contraceptive.
