DO you ever fall asleep at the wheel?

I dozed off probably 5 times on the 35 minute drive home. Everytime it happens, it's only for a second or so, but it's kind of scary because no matter how hard you try not to after doing it once, you do it again, and sometimes again and again. I guess I need more than 5 to 5.5 hours of sleep per night. Damnit.

happened to my cousin a while back. mofo had to have his jaw wired shut for a few months. still wouldn't shut the fuck up

I'd have it sometimes on long drives, usually the freeway, where I would start to drop my head and then the feel of the road would snap me back awake. To counter this I would turn up the music really loud and start shouting/singing/stick my head out the window (especially in freezing temperatures)/head bang/etc. and after a half hour or so I'd be good to go for another few hours.

did it when I was 15 driving to my SATs.. I had to drive about 45 mins to get to where the test was.. and the test was at 8am... i didn't want to risk being late at all so I left at 6am.. was up just after 5am but I stayed up till 1am studying..

so on the way there I'm driving and falling asleep... I had no idea what to do .. I didn't drink coffee or anything at that age.. I was slapping myself.. had the windows down.. air blasting.. anything but I kept falling asleep and nearly ran off the road.

I got the to SAT place at 7am.. a fucking hour early and tired as shit.. so I slept in my truck.. I woke up at 7:55 because I heard people outside my truck.. i got out and ran to the classroom where my test was being held.

Ended up getting a great score so it all worked out ok.. only missed 2 math questions... i loved SAT math, so easy.

At the end of a 16 hour marathon drive by myself.

Did not have any problems driving back from Florida, but a roundtrip to NYC with a stop over to a party set me up for trouble. Got within 70 miles of home - and started hitting the rumble strips on the side of the road.

biteme. Go have a sleep study. See if you have OSA.

I sleep good usually. I just don't like to go to bed. I'm trying to adjust to 5 hours per night, but I guess I need more. I didn't do shit tonight. Laid down at 6 pm and didn't get up till ater 10.

Rowel down the window and hold a hundred dollar bill out it. That should do it.

LOL for real. Yep, that would do it. Great idea!
