Do you believe in subliminal advertising?

I have read a lot of articles on suggestive ads etc... I know you can make an ad racey by putting a voluptuos women in tight clothing.. Im talking about deeper intentionally placed subtle changes in ads that are supposed to make you respond more favorably because of some obtuse freudian reference?

I think a lot of what is accused of being "subliminal" is really more projection of the viewer.. kind of like ink blots tets, or seeing faces in clouds...

Do you think advertisers purposefuly change ads to work on deeper levels of your psychi?

That is all just bullshit. It is something to keep you thinking
it is just something used by peopel to try and keep you in
the dark about everything going on in the world. I have seen
this time and again posted on boards trying to make it so
individuals can further relieve themselves of the responsibility
everyone has to face in dealing with thier own choices,
such a sad excuse for some people!

I did an extensine research paper on this in soph english. My number one point of research was to find if Sublim's existed, and if so to what extent and then to figure out if they work.

I found that they do exist in various types of advertising---

Seagrams has used sulim's in their crown royal adds for a good while--I dont know if they still do, but they did.

What I found on the adds such as the seagrams add is that they were not effective.

However, I found that some department stores that play music that has anti-theft words uttered 'underneath' the lyrics, claimed that shoplifting dropped considerably upon use of the songs.

The most widely used Sublim's are those like the crown royal adds---and from all that i read and the people that I interviewed, everyone felt that those type of subliminals(visible) are not really effective.

I did find, however, that for the most part sublim's that are heard are somewhat effective.

crazy stuff!!!

Yeah, that was some funny stuff. Man, SNL used to be alot better than it is now. All the funny guys have moved on or passed on. Farley, Sandler, Hartman, Spade, Karvey---

One of my favorites was Unfrozen caveman lawyer.--classic.

I was at an O's game last night and the topic of unfrozen caveman lawyer came up. very ironic.

"Ladies and gentlmen of the jury, I'm just a caveman."

"I fell on some ice and later got thawed out by some of your scientists."

"Your world frightens and confuses me! Sometimes the honking horns of your traffic makes me want to get out of my BMW and run off to the hills or whatever. Sometimes when I get a message on my fax machine I wonder, Did little demons get inside and type it? I don't know! My primitive mind can't grasp these concepts."

"But there is one thing I do know. When a man like my client slips and falls on a sidewalk in front of a public library, then he is entitled to no less than two million in compensatory damages and two million in punitive damages."

"Thank you."
