i didnt catch all of it, and heard no mention of our shift into an offensive mode regarding china. not that it would though.

the united states practiced isolationism in the 20's and 30's, largely because of WW1. in 1935, hitler announced he was re-arming germany in violation of the versailles treaty. no one stopped him.

two days after the WW2 started, roosevelt officially declared our nuetrality.

while germany was taking over europe and japan was attacking china, there were groups here in the US encouraging isolationism.

even when the japenese sank an american gunboat, the US allowed them to apologize and accept monies for it.

and what did we get for isolationism,...pearl harbor....and full scale involvement in WW2.

i think hes reffering to the oil reserves in alaska.

Actually, my dad was telling me tonight Alberta, a province in Canada, has more oil reserves then all of Saudi Arabia. But, the oil is mixed in sand, so the total extraction cost comes to something like 16 bucks a barrel. USD.
