Do you approve a first-strike US nuclear attack against China if they invade Taiwan?

I seriously doubt it. Which insinuates a possible strategic advantage for a Chinese invasion of Taiwan ;)

it does, china knows america wont really get involved in a war with taiwan, especially now with her forces spread a bit more thinly

does taiwan have the naval power to shell china silly? china has a lot of very densly populated centres, they could wreak havoc just by using conventional warfare.

i do see it as a little pointless though...even though america gives taiwan arms, i dont see them ever getting involved in a dispute between the two countries

And whats the problem if China invades Taiwan ? It should have been done long time before.

Why would you say that? The Taiwanese people have been struggling to cut all ties from big bully China and their communist ways for over 50 years now in their fight to enjoy the benefits of democracy, which most Americans take for granted. This tiny little country is the underdog in a political war and I want to see that they retain what they have fought so hard to obtain.

Well, I don't believe it will come to that anyway, as long as China lives in fear of the possibility that US would in fact strike aganst China if the time comes to take action and stand up for your beliefs.

Taiwan is no pushover! China would be foolish to invade them. Taiwan has a modern and sophisticated armed forces. Maybe Taiwan will invade China LOL!

The US will never take the chance to put millions of lifes in play just for a damn fuckin island. You know like me that China has intercontinental nuclear missiles just like the uS (not as much of course). Like Mao once said: "There will always be a chinese alive to see the craters of your bombs".....

BTW tell me. What was worst: Chili under Pinochet (or Cuba under Batista) or China under the current gov. ?

pity....as we've done it numerous times. usually resulting in much bloodshed

the united states practiced isolationism in the 20's and 30's, largely because of WW1. in 1935, hitler announced he was re-arming germany in violation of the versailles treaty. no one stopped him.

two days after the WW2 started, roosevelt officially declared our nuetrality.

while germany was taking over europe and japan was attacking china, there were groups here in the US encouraging isolationism.

even when the japenese sank an american gunboat, the US allowed them to apologize and accept monies for it.

and what did we get for isolationism,...pearl harbor....and full scale involvement in WW2.
