Do Pro Body Builders Really Not Work Their Abs on Regular Basis?

curling

New member
I was doing some heavy ab work last night with weight because I thought I would start training my abs like I do other body parts heavy weight with 8 to 10 reps.
And this dude told a chick next to me that pros don't do abs regularly because they become hard mound with no definition.

So now I am really confused am I going to screw up my ab definition by doing heavy ab work three days a week?

btw I am having to catch up on my abs been working out for two and half years and didn't do abs much but I want a six pack by the summer if it kills me.

yo. Pros also take lots of drugs that magnify the size of the muscle. USE HEAVY WEIGHT! Make you abs grow. besides no guy would mind having a big chest/arms... Why are you afariad of big abs? Bigger abs make you gut look harder with less fat.

YEH BABY! WORK THOSE ABS!

Without drugs and serious genetic mutations it is IMPOSSIBLE to do that. EVen most roided out trainers with lots of training dont get huge abs. Why do you think you will get hiuge abs?

I don't really. It is just some info that I thought might be bogused but I wanted to make sure. Because I am doing some very intense ab training now with heavy ass weight where it makes my abs feel sore (like legs do two or three day afterwards). And I just didn't want to do all that work and not get the results I wanted. Because dang it hurts what I am doing.

I even do staight leg leg lifts with someone pushing them down as I raise them sucker hurt.

BTW,

What's your abs work out ????

what exercices are you doing ??

I'm just looking for a new abs work out.

Thanks

I do three sets of 12 to 15 with a 45lb plate on me one for decline presses. Supersetting it with straight leg lifts on the parellel(sp)bars with someone pushing them down as I get to the top for three sets 12 to 15 reps(or until failure)

Then I use the tricep pushdown machine holding the bar on the back of my neck for three sets with my knees on a mat.

Milos Sarcev who has some of the best abs ever only works them ouit pre contest like 5 weeks out or so

yeah tats right..we pros dont...

ops, i mean diet and cardio is key for a good midsection. cuz if you train a good split, and do exercises like squats, deadlifts and so on, you will have developed some muscle there. you just have to get it out in the open.

personally i love doing abs..so i used to do 1000 reps of different variations every day..i didnt get a sixpack from it..but i got a strong midsection..thats the way boxers and martial artists do it.

In the off-season, pros don't work there abs(most don't) why? They don't want to burn the cals-----hell some of these guys don't like to walk upstairs at all in the off season----And when there that heavy, they won't be able to concentrate( the squeeze) when hitting abs anyway. They rely on muscle memory for this bodypart. And will hit abs hard in the pre-contest weeks-- along with lipo(if needed) and etching of the abs and glutes.....

If a bodybuilder is hitting his abs in the offseason--its because he may have weak ab muscles and want to bring them up--(the only way to know if they are a weak body part is to diet down tight and see what they look like) 12 weeks of strict dieting and ab training will bring anybody's abs in--

My advice to you is if you have never dieted down to really get a look at your abs(5-7% range) then do it. If you are a guy that carries a lot of bodyfat, and are happy with that- then just hit your abs once a week and don't waste the energy training your abs more then that because no matter how much you train them, they aren't going to seen without a diet anyway---Use the time and energy to hit a bodypart that will be seen:) peace

Work you abs, save yourself from a lower back injury....that simple.
